Ítem A comparative study of the hydrodynamic performance of planing boats through experimental and statistical approaches(Universidad EAFIT, 2021) Giraldo Pérez, Erick Santiago; Osorio Gómez, GilbertoÍtem A Fixed Grid method for hyperelastic models in large strain analysis using the level set method(Universidad EAFIT, 2014) Ramírez Benítez, William Alberto; García Ruíz, Manuel JulioA Fixed Grid Finite Element Method (FGFEM) in addition to a Mooney-Rivlin hyperelastic model is introduced. This method uses the mixed finite element formulation to treat the elements, but classifying these in a fixed cartesian grid that is superimposed over the model geometry -- In order to do this, the boundary tracking is achieved by solving the level set equation -- A numerical extrapolation of the displacement field from the solid domain to the entire fixed grid domain is done -- The system of equations are solved by the use of an incremental Newton-Raphson scheme -- Finally, some numerical examples are implemented and good convergence results are obtained for the displacement field, showing that FGFEM for the hyperelastic model is suitable for mechanical problems undergoing large strains and large displacementsÍtem A framework for Rapid Product Development based on digital techniques : an industrial case study of ceramic-based product(Universidad EAFIT, 2023) Trujillo Ángel, Luis Alfonso; Rodríguez Arroyave, Carlos ArturoÍtem A logistic process immaturity model proposal(Universidad EAFIT, 2020) Márquez Gutiérrez, Mateo; Carmona González, Guillermo León; Castro Zuluaga, Carlos Alberto; Carmona González, Guillermo León; Castro Zuluaga, Carlos AlbertoÍtem A new way for learning languages through virtual inmmersive environments(Universidad EAFIT, 2012) Torres Arias, Diego Mauricio; Treftz, HelmuthImmersive virtual environments or metaverse are representations of real or imaginative worlds created on the digital world with the purpose of making real situations or impossible experiences in the real world -- Users on these worlds represent themselves via avatars that interact in representation of the user. At present, these virtual worlds are used for business processes, research and education -- The purpose of this article is to describe the process of adapting an immersive virtual environment to be used as a virtual teaching-learning tool of the English language as a second language -- The immersive virtual world was tested in a learning environment, and the results of the evaluation is presented -- This research started with the identification of the adequate immersive platform, students group selection, test design and implementation in order to determining if it is more successful to teach over a virtual immersive environment or in the real classroom -- We proposed the hypothesis : “the Second Life tool is, at least, as effective in teaching a second language, in this case English, in A2 level students in the Common European Framework as the face-to-face mode.” and in order to validate it, a set of experiments were conducted -- Different measures of results were given comparing the performance of an experimental group against a control group -- The results of the experiments show that the experimental, using the virtual environment, has better improvement compared to the control group -- These results indicate that virtual immersive environments are efficient tools, useful in teaching-learning language processesÍtem A Propulsion System Design Methodology Based on Overall Efficiency Optimization for Electrically-Powered Vessels(Universidad EAFIT, 2022) Mira Pineda, Juan David; Mejía-Gutiérrez, RicardoBoats have historically been an important mean of transportation, both for passengers and cargo, mainly in water-rich countries. Today, the electrification of transportation includes fluvial navigation, but energy efficiency remains a key issue. Energy consumption, in electrically powered vessels, is strongly influenced by several technical systems (e.g. hydrodynamics, battery, propulsion, etc.). While advances in some of those main systems are found in the literature, this research work focuses on the design and optimization of the “propulsion system (PS)” (Motor–Transmission–Propeller). By implementing an electric motor, the interaction of the mechanical components can be analyzed to find the optimal variables that will govern the performance of the vessel and that allow the optimal Motor–Transmission–Propeller combination. This manuscript presents the development of a multivariable optimization methodology to maximize the overall efficiency of a propulsion system and, therefore, the autonomy of an electrically powered river vessel. The methodology starts with the analysis of the physical variables that define the performance of the propulsion unit components, and establish an optimality problem and an exhaustive search model that considers all possible values of the key design parameters. A case study is presented for the design of an electrically powered river boat, for the transport of people, within the framework of the ENERGETICA 2030 project. This methodology enabled the choice of the PS’s components, while optimizing the energy consumption.Ítem ABC design method: implementing adoption of innovation criteria through design heuristics for social design driven innovation projects(Universidad EAFIT, 2018) Restrepo Giraldo, Jorge Andrés; Velásquez Montoya, MarcelaThis article explains the experiences of the implementation of a decision support method in product/service design processes -- The research focuses on the utilization of a heuristic based method, as a tool to integrate adoption of innovation criteria to product design development phases -- All of this, with the objective to enhance the adoption of product/service solutions in social innovation driven projects and support conceptual exploration, providing more detailed information about the relationship between context, user, and product in early stages of the process -- Finally, this article is centered on an exploratory validation of the method by the development of two design cases to evaluate the assistance in a conducted design processÍtem Acercando el Branding y la UX : una herramienta para la selección de métodos(Universidad EAFIT, 2023) Gómez Rodríguez, Natalia; Maya Castaño, Jorge HernánÍtem ADAM : Método Ágil para Adopción de estrategias de DevOps(Universidad EAFIT, 2023) Soto Velásquez, Jairo Alberto; Mazo Peña, RaúlThis research paper focuses on the concept of DevOps. DevOps is the acronym Development and Operations English and consists of a set of Practices to improve automation and monitoring at all steps of the Software construction, from integration, testing and deployment, to Configuration and management of the infrastructure required for the software works properly. Good practices are implemented in many industrial development projects of DevOps without leveraging engineering methods, which leads to implement practices that are unnecessary for the project, or fail to implement other practices that They improve the different stages of this. This paper presents the adoption method of DevOps called Agile DevOps Adoption Methodology (ADAM). The method consists of in a series of activities that are implemented on a cyclical basis, starting with the identification of the current state of DevOps adoption, following the creation of the backlog of good DevOps practices, following the definition of the objectives of service level, service level indicators, and finally practices of Monitoring and observability to measure the effectiveness of the proposed method. This method of We evaluate adoption in the case of a web application for the design of products called VariaMos. The results obtained allowed us to conclude on the speed and level of automation of ADAM adoption process management. In the evaluation, we found that using ADAM deployment times and lead time (lead time) decreased by more than 500%, compared to a Deploy without any method and executed manually. In addition, the use of ADAM does not affected the quality of the product with which the method was evaluated; which has allowed a Greater product evolution and improved confidence on the part of end users. In addition, maintenance costs are reduced by 50%. In the results obtained we also found that the time to DevOps adoption is much longer at the start of the project, but as the practices are adopted, the time is reduced. These Results constitute a first empirical evidence of the potential of the method ADAM proposed in this paper on improving the adoption of DevOps in the construction of Web applications.Ítem Adaptación de la metodología TPM en empresas pequeñas y medianas (Pymes) del subsector panificador(Universidad EAFIT, 2016) Trujillo Hernández, Luis Eduardo; Villegas López, Gustavo AdolfoÍtem Adaptaciones de workflows para administración de seguridad mediante MDD y aspectos(Universidad EAFIT, 2011-06) Giraldo Velásquez, Fáber Danilo; Anaya de Páez, RaquelThis document present a proposal for addressing the problem of workflows adaptation, through the inclusion of security properties at a business modeling level, controlling its impact on the business processes that are intervened, and the management of crosscutting concerns that are woven with each other. In this work, a local adjustment methodology is proposed to the Witczak equation NCHRP 1-37A of the new AASHTO Guide. Likewise, a non-sigmoidal equation is presented that considers the correlation of the individual variables with the dynamic module |E *| by means of the Spearman coefficient. Nine (9) different hot asphalt mixtures were analyzed, the results of the dynamic laboratory module were compared with those obtained with the Witczak prediction formula in the new AASHTO 2004 Guide for the Mechanical-Empirical Design of Pavements MEPDG. Based on the statistical analysis, local adjustments were proposed to the coefficients of the sigmoidal equation NCHRP 1-37A; Finally, by multivariate non-linear correlation analysis methods, an alternative model was proposed to estimate the value of the dynamic module E *, from the volumetric aspects of the asphalt mix and the viscosity of the asphalt cement. The study concluded that: (a) better values of the correlation coefficient of the modified equation are obtained with respect to the original equation of Witczak 1-37A and (b), the non-sigmoidal equations can be simple and produce results similar to the sigmoidal with equal or greater statistical reliability.Ítem Algoritmo de búsqueda de entorno variable para minimizar el makespan en un sistema flow shop con máquinas de procesamiento por lotes(Universidad EAFIT, 2020) Palacio Henao, Roberto Carlos; Vélez Gallego, Mario César
