Ítem Articulo de datos : escarabajos coprófagos, hormigas, abejas y mariposas del jardín botánico de Medellín (Antioquia, Colombia)(Universidad EAFIT, 2018) Arrieta Echeverri, Maria clara; Bedoya Escobar, AlejandraIn this study, the entomofauna of the Botanical Garden of Medellin was characterized, for which 4 groups were selected: coprophagous beetles (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae), diurnal butterflies (Lepidoptera: Rhopalocera), ants (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) and bees (Hymenoptera: Apiodea). Insects were collected between January 30 and February 5, 2018. Four sampling stations were established. The selected methodologies correspond to pitfall traps with copro and necro bait, Van Someren Rydon traps, manual capture through free routes with time restriction. The dataset contains 454 records distributed as 41 records of dung beetles, 127 records of ants, 72 records of butterflies and 214 records of bees. The specimens were deposited at the Francisco Luis Gallego Entomological Museum. The resource contains information on 3 species of coprophagous beetles, 16 genera of antes, 23 species/morphospecies of bees and 23 species/morphospecies of diurnal butterflies. To date, there was no information on the insect’s richness of the Botanical Garden; so, these results are considered the first georeferenced records of these taxonomic groups in the urban area of Medellin and provide the baseline for the conservation strategy of insects in this important urban ecosystem.
