Resumen
The elaboration of an adequate zoning plan, landscape-ecological plan or geopark plan requires taking into account the recognition of the natural values of an area covered by the plan and evaluating its abiotic and biotic diversities. The Ranchería river basin, located in Riohacha manifests natural characteristics that make it unique, since it presents a landscape of a structural type and another landscape of an arid type, and the contrast between the two makes it more striking. In addition, the basin exhibits characteristics of cultural, archaeological, geological, and hydric relevance, among others. By calculating the geodiversity in this area, it is possible to jointly analyze the biotic and abiotic characteristics that interact in the basin. To carry out this calculation, geomorphometric, geological and climatic criteria are used. Because this basin has such a unique geological configuration, and that its occurrence represents an area of high scientific and even tourist interest, it is necessary to promote its conservation and its continuous study to obtain the most information about it and its bio-geodiversity, looking to an integral management of the natural-cultural heritage

La elaboración de un plan de zonificación, plan paisajístico-ecológico o de un geoparque adecuado, requiere tener en cuenta el reconocimiento de los valores naturales de un área cubierta por el plan y evaluar sus diversidades tanto bióticas como abióticas. La cuenca del Río Ranchería, ubicada en Riohacha, manifiesta características naturales que la hacen única, ya que presenta un paisaje de tipo estructural y otro paisaje de tipo árido, además, el contraste entre los dos la hace más llamativa. Adicionalmente, la cuenca exhibe características de relevancia cultural, arqueológica, geológica, hídrica, entre otras. Mediante el cálculo de la geodiversidad en esta zona, es posible analizar en conjunto las características bióticas y abióticas que interactúan en la cuenca. Para llevar a cabo este cálculo, se usan criterios geomorfométricos, geológicos y climáticos. Debido a que esta cuenca posee una configuración geológica tan única, y que la ocurrencia de esta representa un área de alto interés científico e incluso turístico, es necesario promover su conservación y su estudio continuo para obtener la mayor información sobre ella y sobre su bio-geodiversidad, con miras a la gestión integral del patrimonio natural y cultural.
