This paper aims to investigate which aspects of the right to the city—namely, transportation, public space, and human security—women in urban Medellín perceive as most vulnerable. A mixed method of empirical analysis and proprietary data collection instruments were used. Among the findings was found that the possibility of sexual or psychological assault is a problem inherent to a gender analysis that limits women's habitation and participation in the city. Also relevant are the increase in insecurity within public transportation and the risk factor generated by urban "loneliness." Finally, the impact of women's and feminist spaces in Medellín is important in helping to guarantee the enjoyment of this right.Publicación La despenalización mediática del aborto en Colombia: una perspectiva desde El Espectador (2020-2023)(Universidad EAFIT, 2025) Uribe Cortés, Sara; Rocha Pimentel, María José; Universidad EAFITThis article analyzes the media agenda of the Colombian newspaper El Espectador regarding the issue of decriminalization of abortion in Colombia between 2020 and 2023. For this purpose, 50 news pieces were examined with the aim of discovering the type of actors mentioned, the type of sources used and the thematic perspective under which this controversy was reported. The objective is to elaborate and analyze the framing, emotional or cognitive, of the media according to the two levels of the agenda. Making use of the normative frameworks provided by authors such as Amartya Sen and Margarita Orozco, the possibility of the configuration of the media agenda on the public agenda is analyzed in terms of the contributions that an adequate coverage of issues such as abortion, which are deeply divisive in society, may represent to the democratic debate.Publicación La “otra” izquierda. De carnívora a zanahoria. El caso de Petro y Márquez desde la teoría de Adela Cortina(Universidad EAFIT, 2025) Castaño García, Wendy; Muriel García, Melissa; Universidad EAFITColombia faces a constant dispute between political parties and movements for the construction of majorities, especially in electoral contexts, where discursive strategies and agendas are oriented to public opinion. In the 2022 elections, the contest was marked by an “other” left led by Gustavo Petro, who has consolidated a control of the recognized discourse in the political arena, although still in the process of acceptance in the national country. Alongside him, Francia Márquez stood out for his social leadership, representing an exceptional turn towards a left centered on biopolitics and active democracy. This process took place in a polarized country, with a surprisingly fragmented right and a weakened center. In this context, the question arises: how do elections become a game of repertoires and discursive strategies designed to build electoral majorities? Adela Cortina is presented as a key reference to analyze this phenomenon, placing Petro and Márquez mainly within emotive democracy: on the one hand, from the transition from hegemony to reconciliation for governance, and on the other, the focus of the discourse on the life and welfare of communities.Publicación Discursos de disidencia en periodos electorales. Una comparación de las estrategias retóricas de Milei y Petro(Universidad EAFIT, 2025) Bedoya Lopera, Juan Camilo; Calvete Labouz, Andrés David; Gómez Gallán, Dahiana Andrea; Martínez Angulo, Andrea; Martínez Flórez, Carolina; Universidad EAFITThis article examines the rhetorical strategies used by Javier Milei and Gustavo Petro during their first electoral contest, with the aim of identifying the presence of populist rhetoric when mobilizing their voters. It is hypothesized that the use of emotional language and references to national identity appeal to the most vulnerable voters. Categories of analysis include antagonistic politics and the populist “them vs. us” distinction, speech acts, and symbols that complement verbalized discourse. The results show that Milei focuses his discourse on opposition to the “political caste”, advocating radical change, while Petro focuses his rhetoric on social inequality, alluding to the most disadvantaged classes. It is concluded that, despite their ideological differences, both leaders employ populist anti-establishment rhetorical strategies to mobilize their electoral bases, demonstrating the adaptation of Latin American populism in the second decade of the 21st century.Publicación Redefinir la ruta: una propuesta para regular las aplicaciones tecnológicas de transporte en Colombia(Universidad EAFIT, 2025) Rivera Osorio, Ana Sofía; Álvarez Mejía, Juan Andrés; Universidad EAFITThis paper proposes an alternative solution to mitigate the tension between the public cab service and transportation applications such as Uber, Didi and InDrive in Colombia. It suggests implementing an experimental and progressive regulation of these applications to attenuate market failures, improve competition between both services and guarantee quality conditions for drivers and users. Our study is based on the review of academic literature, legislation, jurisprudence and press articles, using textual analysis and the agenda setting method as the main methodology to understand the market context and the current legal uncertainty.
