It is possible to observe a considerable increase in tourist demand, which in turn has been accompanied by a shift in supply, as the market seeks to respond to the new characteristics of the demand. This paper provides an overview of the tourism market, evaluating variations in supply and demand based on the descriptive analysis of available data on foreign arrivals, hotel occupancy, the Airbnb market, digital nomads, employment, rental prices, and other relevant factors to understand the change in behavior of this market. We find that there has been a shock in demand post-pandemic, which results in a shift in the demand curve due to changes in tourist preferences, partly due to the devaluation of the peso, which favors the arrival of foreign tourists. As for the supply, we find that there was an increase in registrations in the National Tourism Registry in the city, the number of available beds increased, and the income from Airbnb increased significantly.Ítem Aproximación al impacto del turismo en las dinámicas del consumo de drogas en Colombia (2012-2022)(Universidad EAFIT, 2023) Franco Valencia, Sarah; Saavedra Muñóz, Nicolás; Tobón, SantiagoCurrently, tourism is one of the most relevant legal activities for the Colombian economy due to its contribution to issues of growth and development. Nevertheless, it can potentially bring negative situations such as insecurity and gentrification. On the other hand, from an illegal perspective, we can observe economic dynamics in activities like the drug market, which is one of the most significant money-moving sectors within the Colombian economy. Considering both activities and their economic magnitude, this research work explores a potential relationship between the arrival of foreign tourists and the drug consumption dynamics, as measured through police seizures in Colombia between 2012 and 2022. The conducted theoretical framework demonstrates a possible connection between these variables through economic theories like those related to crime and consumer behavior. Furthermore, a differences-in-differences model is presented to explore an approach to the relationship using seizure measures for various drugs in Colombia. The results indicate a potential link between the arrival of tourists and drug market dynamics, yielding positive, negative, and inconclusive results for the different types of drugs.Ítem Barreras para implementar estrategias de transformación digital en las agencias de viajes de la ciudad de Medellín(Universidad EAFIT, 2022) Moreno Rozo, Victor Giovanni; Vélez Restrepo, Juan Francisco; Tamayo Bustamante, Jairo Alejandro; Acevedo Mejía, Érika CristinaThe world is in a time of digital implementation and optimization of some organizational processes, which brings with it new opportunities for companies to improve or establish so-called digital transformation strategies in the industry to which they belong. This trend brings many challenges to understand its implementation and function in the internal processes of the company and its role in external processes, to bring the value proposition to the benefit of the consumer. The tourism industry is no stranger to these new digital transformation strategies. Being one of the most important industries worldwide, it must be aligned with these advances, because the consumer of a global industry expects them to be available anywhere and under any situation. Therefore, in this research, we will use a qualitative methodology supported by in-depth interview techniques, where we analyze the barriers to implement digital transformation strategies in tourism companies in the city of Medellin and propose routes to reduce them and contribute to the implementation. and digitization, according to the expectations of your competitive environment.Ítem Calidad del servicio como inductor de valor económico en el sector hotelero estudios de casos en el municipio de Riohacha, La Guajira(Universidad EAFIT, 2015) Sierra Ortíz, Karen Nahyr; Sierra Toncel, WilmarLa dinámica del sector servicios ha evolucionado para poder suplir las demandas de un cliente cada vez más exigente y selectivo, que puede escoger entre una amplia cantidad de oferentes -- Esto aplica de manera particular al sector hotelero, en el que la calidad es un aspecto fundamental que es notorio en toda la cadena de la prestación del servicio -- Sin embargo, es importante determinar si las inversiones que los gerentes realizan en aspectos de la calidad del servicio en los hoteles en realidad pueden redundar en la generación de valor económico de sus establecimientos, lo que les podría garantizar una ventaja competitiva sobre sus rivales -- Por lo tanto, esta investigación tuvo como objetivo evaluar la calidad del servicio como posible inductor de valor económico en los establecimientos hoteleros del municipio de Riohacha, La Guajira, en el período 2009-2013 -- La metodología fue descriptiva y de estudios de casos múltiples y entre los principales resultados se encontró que existe una correlación positiva entre las variables calidad del servicio y generación de valor de dichos establecimientosÍtem Caso de estudio: Factores claves de éxito de la empresa On Vacation Hoteles & Resorts(Universidad EAFIT, 2016) Aristizábal Vega, Luis ArnobisEl presente trabajo tiene como objetivo estudiar los factores de éxito empresarial de la empresa ON VACATION, mediante el método de caso -- Se analiza la evolución del turismo a nivel mundial y latinoamericano, en especial se profundiza en el nacimiento del “todo incluido”, un concepto revolucionario en la industria turística -- Actualmente la empresa ON VACATION es referente en el mercado, al facturar más de 100 millones de dólares anuales -- Con la creación de varias unidades estratégicas de negocio se ha integrado verticalmente, generando un volumen alto en ventas, a un bajo costo de operación -- Esta investigación es importante porque permite analizar un caso de estudio en el contexto académico; además sirve como ejemplo a la nueva generación de emprendedores para que se animen a crear empresaÍtem Contribución del turismo al PIB per cápita en Casanare, Meta, Santander, Bogotá D.C, San Andrés, Providencia y Santa Catalina durante el periodo 2013-2023(Universidad EAFIT, 2024) Sánchez Cardona, María del Mar; Guerrero Herrera, Adrián Andrés; Quirós Arango, Luis Fernando; Puerta Puerta, Henry DanielThis work aims to analyze the impact of tourism on the Colombian economy, specifically in five departments with high GDP per capita (Casanare, Meta, Bogotá, San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina, and Santander) during the period 2013-2023. This issue has gained importance in recent years as tourism has grown exponentially in the country, driven by greater air connectivity and an increase in foreign visitors. This growth has created a multiplier effect in sectors such as hospitality, transportation, and commerce. However, the effects of tourism are not solely positive, as seasonality, inflation, and the overexploitation of resources affect the economic and social stability of these regions, causing discontent among residents due to the externalities of tourism. Consequently, a thorough study is necessary due to the lack of research and information on the subject. An econometric panel data model will be developed to evaluate the relationship between tourism and GDP per capita, aiming to determine whether this activity impacts the purchasing power of residents in different regions, considering variables such as nationalities, reasons for travel, and GDP per capita. This research seeks to determine how tourism contributes to long-term economic growth and the thresholds at which its positive effects may reverse. The results will provide an empirical basis for decision-making in sustainable tourism policies, aiming to maximize the economic benefits of tourism while minimizing its negative impacts.Ítem Estudio de factibilidad para el desarrollo de una plataforma digital en pro del turismo estético en Tuluá (Valle del Cauca) para 2023(Universidad EAFIT, 2023) Urriago Escobar, Juan Felipe; Apraez Guarín, Nelly Verónica; Zapata Montoya, Mauricio FernandoThis project was based on market research which had as a general purpose to recognize the feasibility to develop a digital platform in pro of aesthetic tourism in Tuluá (Valle del Cauca) by 2023. The formulation of projects is the preliminary evaluation that involves the market study, technical study, study of the organization and legal study (Padilla, 2011). The success of a project depends to a large extent on a good formulation of it and for this reason some authors consider this phase as one of the most complex (Sapag, 2007). In this area, there are different methodologies to address the formulation, such as the logical framework, the adjusted general methodology and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) methodology. However, some government entities, such as the National Tourism Fund (Fontur), rely on their own methodological guides for the presentation of projects. This report analyzes the process of formulating a tourism promotion project for the city of Medellín using the Fontur methodological guide and for academic purposes the feasibility of the project according to the UNIDO methodology. By formulating and presenting this project to Fontur, the aim is to obtain practical knowledge of this process to later socialize the lessons learned to other private tourism actors in the city of Medellín. It is intended in such a way that said investigation is useful for other tourist service providers and encourages the development, presentation and use of the resources of this entity. This report is framed on the research, which is of a qualitative type, of the requirements of this entity for the presentation of tourism promotion projects based on the Manual for the allocation of resources and presentation of projects of April 2020 (Fontur, 2020b). Likewise, a documentary analysis is carried out to justify the articulation of the project and the objective of the project with the national and local tourism plans. Regarding the field work, interviews are conducted with the most important actors in charge of promoting tourism in the city, such as the Subsecretary of Tourism and the Medellín Visitors Bureau. A survey is also carried out to identify the demand for the project and the appropriate price for it.Ítem Internationalization process of medical services: a comparative analysis of the current state of medical tourism in Medellín, Colombia and San José, Costa Rica(Universidad EAFIT, 2012) Arboleda Díaz, Ana María; Trevtler, ThomasÍtem Modelo de negocio para brindar servicios turísticos especializados a ciclistas, en la región de Antioquia(Universidad EAFIT, 2016) Donado Calle, Antonio; Henao Cálad, Mónica; Ospina Mejía, Jaime AlbertoEl concepto de modelo de negocio y las metodologías que lo soportan se han convertido de gran utilidad para la estructuración de emprendimientos con ofertas de valor diferenciadas y componentes innovadores en su funcionamiento -- Aprovechando el marco de referencia provisto por dicho concepto se propone diseñar un modelo de negocio para brindar servicios turísticos especializados a ciclistas en la región de Antioquia -- La idea surge como respuesta a las ventajas comparativas que tiene Colombia en la práctica ciclística, al creciente protagonismo que ha adquirido el ciclismo colombiano en el ámbito internacional, y al hecho de que en la zona no se cuente con una amplia oferta para satisfacer las necesidades específicas de este nicho -- El trabajo se compone de una investigación sobre el concepto de modelo de negocio, sus orígenes, y la descripción de algunas de sus principales metodologías -- Estas sirven de base para escoger, la que en concepto del autor, es la metodología más adecuada para el planteamiento del proyecto -- Se describen también los principales servicios turísticos dirigidos a ciclistas que se ofrecen actualmente en Estados Unidos y en algunos países de Europa y que sirven como referentes al emprendimiento -- Se presenta una investigación sobre las necesidades específicas de los cicloturistas a través de entrevistas con algunos actores del negocio, y finalmente se procede a plantear las características del modelo de negocio procurando que en él se incluyan componentes innovadores que garanticen su permanencia y rentabilidad en el tiempoÍtem Modelo de negocios para un emprendimiento de servicios turísticos, ecoturísticos y culturales en San Agustín, departamento del Huila(Universidad EAFIT, 2017) Salamanca Salazar, Blanca Ligia; Sánchez, JuliánLas oportunidades para emprender están dadas en la actualidad con el entorno global, que trae consigo grandes retos para quienes decidan materializar una idea de negocio; sin embargo, para mitigar ciertos riesgos en la intensión de realizar un emprendimiento, debemos asegurar una propuesta viable, sostenible y diferenciadora dentro de todas las opciones que podamos encontrar en el mercado -- Parte de la clave para obtener el éxito deseado en la construcción de un emprendimiento, es diseñar un modelo de negocio que tenga en cuenta las variables necesarias para asegurar la identificación de la propuesta de valor, su estrategia, los clientes objetivo, la viabilidad y proyección económica -- El presente trabajo identifica una oportunidad de negocio en el sector turístico, dado al crecimiento sostenido durante los últimos 10 años de este renglón de la economía, por tal razón, el objetivo es estudiar un modelo de negocio que pueda ser viable para crear un centro de servicios turístico en el departamento del Huila, la concentración específica sería el municipio de San Agustín, capital arqueológica de Colombia y centro de gran importancia por su riqueza cultural y natural -- Conseguiremos identificar el cliente objetivo en Colombia, sus preferencias por el ecoturismo y turismo cultural, el propósito también es hacer una propuesta atractiva para el mercado actual y futuro, dado que en Colombia últimamente se ha reactivado el turismo, la confianza de los turistas nacionales y extranjeros por recorrer nuestro país es interesante y va en crecimientoÍtem Plan de marketing territorial para atracción de inversión extranjera en el oriente antioqueño(Universidad EAFIT, 2023) Caballero Rosas, Paola Andrea; Ruiz Velásquez, María AndreaCountries, cities and regions have seen the opportunity to work on exogenous and endogenous marketing to promote their opportunities and advantages to attract companies, tourists and visitors that impact the territorial development of a certain destination.
