The methodology used is qualitative and exploratory in scope. At the beginning, twenty risk managers of large companies are chosen to learn, based on their experience, the reasons why their institutions do not adopt RMS. In the second stage, ten senior managers and consultants are selected in order to investigate the most effective coping strategies that, in their opinion, have been implemented. In the end, it is found that the reasons most invoked by the managers and consultants interviewed are the following: lack of commitment of the board and senior management, difficulties in communication, resistance to change, perception of lack of value generation, lack of risk management culture and inadequate definition of a process structure in companies. Finally, the ways of coping that have been applied in large companies to implement RMS are described.Publicación Agua que habita la montaña : gestión integral del agua en el borde urbano-rural : experiencia Bello Oriente(Universidad EAFIT, 2021) Lopera Correa, Cindy Lopera; Ortiz Madrigal, Luisa Maria; Restrepo Mazo, Lina Maria; García Londoño, CarolinaThis research seeks to address the comprehensive management of water in so-called informal areas with urban-rural border characteristics, taking as a premise the interrelationships between being, in its social dimension, water in its environmental dimension, and the mountain in its territorial dimension. The degree and quality of these analyses depend significantly on the expert's knowledge and experience about the geomorphological processes present in the study areas. Due to the ambiguity of this method, it is susceptible to subjective interpretations. This paper analyzes other methodologies used for susceptibility analysis. Among the alternatives are heuristic, statistical, deterministic methodologies, and methods based on training and simulation (AI), identifying which of these provides a more solid foundation for decision-making in geological risk management, while addressing the challenges associated with implementing these methods and their impact on the effectiveness of the analyses.Publicación Aplicación de Backtesting y Stresstesting al modelo actuarial para establecer el valor del contrato en una Institución Prestador de Servicios de Salud (IPS) de Colombia(Universidad EAFIT, 2024) Suaza Ramírez, Andrés Geovanny; Gómez Peña, Edwin Andrés; Rojas Ormaza, Brayan RicardoIn the Colombian health system, healthcare providers (IPS) are regulated by Supersalud. In 2021, they issued circular 20211700000004-5, instructing the creation of a comprehensive risk management system for IPS. Actuarial risk management is essential for valuing health contracts, as IPS face various risks in their operations. The circular urges IPS to perform stress tests and self-verification on actuarial models used to establish contractual values, adjusting them to mitigate risks. These models determine service premiums, and miscalculation could affect operations, generating budget deficits. Sufficiency studies and risk adjustments from the Ministry of Health will be used to calculate capitation payments in 2023. Stress tests will be applied to contracts, creating a reference for IPS to minimize operational and liquidity risks, complying with Supersalud requirements.Ítem Aprende a gestionar tu negocio / María Antonia Núñez...
