Ítem Análisis de las condiciones socioeconómicas de las mujeres en Colombia : la incidencia de la economía del cuidado en la probabilidad de estar empleado(Universidad EAFIT, 2021) García Gómez, Valentina; Dávalos Álvarez, EleonoraThis research manages to evidence gender inequality when performing unpaid domestic care tasks and its impact on the Colombian labor market, in addition to proving that this situation not only limits female labor participation, but also has an impact on its efficiency and performance. Based on the National Time Use Survey 2017-2018 and implementing a linear probability model, it is found that performing this type of unpaid tasks has a negative impact on the probability of obtaining a job. In addition, it confirms the double workday fulfilled by those women who manage to get employed and who additionally work longer hours having a high proportion of time use for care economy work.Ítem Análisis de participación laboral femenina en Colombia 2018-2020(Universidad EAFIT, 2021) López Arango, Valentina; Vinasco Ciro, Ana María; Cantet, María NataliaÍtem Determinantes de la estructura de salarios en Colombia entre 2007 y 2023(Universidad EAFIT, 2024) Arteaga Arango, Alejandra; Posada Posada, Carlos EstebanThe study addresses the determinants of the wage structure in Colombia from 2007 to 2023. Using the Gran Encuesta Integrada de Hogares (GEIH) and a Structural Vector Autoregressive Model (SVAR), it examines the relationship between the number of skilled and unskilled workers, the interaction between physical and human capital, and the potential for skill-biased technical changes. The study concludes that economic growth and capital accumulation were key determinants in shaping the wage structure during the 2007–2023 period. The results are robust across different model specifications and adjustments to the analysis period.Ítem Determinantes sociodemográficos de la cotización a pensión : estudio de caso para Colombia, Chile, México y Perú(Universidad EAFIT, 2022) Toro Zuluaga, Gregorio; Cardona López, Juan José; Chaparro Cardona, Juan CamiloThis study aims to establish how sociodemographic determinants affect the probability of contributing to a pension in Colombia, Chile, Mexico and Peru, using logit and multinomial logit models. Likewise, it concludes that solving the structural problems of the labor markets will result in greater probabilities of contribution, regardless of the pension system. Therefore, it highlights the importance of increasing coverage in education, reducing school dropouts and encouraging formalization, mainly for independent workers or those that are self-employed, with the aim of increasing the likelihood of these individuals to contribute to the pension scheme, and thus guarantee its sustainability.Ítem Empoderamiento femenino : ¿es el género femenino y algunas variables concernientes a este, determinantes importantes en el PIB per-cápita de los países?(Universidad EAFIT, 2021) Arcila Laverde, Jesús Esteban; Bohórquez Correa, SantiagoFemale empowerment is considered one of the main keys for the development of countries, mainly in monetary terms. Higher levels of female empowerment mean higher per-capita income for society as a whole. Tertiary education for women is seen as the main transforming factor for both women and societies; However, according to different authors raised in this research, there are other variables concerning the female gender and framed within the definition of female empowerment, which may have implications on the per-capita income of the entire society beyond the educational factor. An econometric regression of 6 variables is then carried out (identified through an extensive literature review) with variables related to the female gender as independent variables and the GDP per capita of the countries as the dependent variable, by means of a panel data model and with this, the true effect of them on GDP per capita is found, to later contrast with the analyzed literature and give reliable conclusions about the real effect of female empowerment.Ítem Female economic empowerment in Colombia(Universidad EAFIT, 2024) Ceballos García, Grey Yuliet; Posso Suárez, Christian Manuel; Hernández Flórez, MónicaThe labor market is the master key to equality because it allows for income redistribution and the actualization of a wide range of economic and social rights. Understanding women's participation in the labor market is a fundamental step in advancing strategies for their economic empowerment. At the same time, women's participation in the labor market is often constrained by factors including social roles and norms. The traditional association of women with domestic work, childcare, and other unpaid or low-paid activities has generated a conflict that is still playing out in the 21st century. This thesis, offering three economic studies on the dynamics that affect women's participation in the labor market in Colombia. We present a national panorama of Colombia's women's labor market from different perspectives, pointing out the progress and mainly the challenges and gaps we still must overcome to achieve long-awaited gender equality and female economic empowerment.Ítem La mujer rural : un análisis de las condiciones socioeconómicas y participación laboral de la mujer rural en Colombia(Universidad EAFIT, 2020) Bedoya Jaramillo, Mariana; Velásquez Correa, Lisdey; Muñoz Mora, Juan CarlosGender inequality is a global problem that has been around since ancient times and that little by little has had positive changes that have helped to mitigate the inequality gap between men and women (ECLAC, 2020). In the rural sector, this problem is mainly marked in matters of education, economic autonomy, working conditions, and access to land and credit, therefore, deepening these issues is of great help in finding solutions to this situation. Rural women's participation in the labor market is limited by the hours dedicated to domestic work and childcare, in addition to using most of their harvest for self-consumption, causing them to consider themselves less productive than their male peers . For this reason, this research focuses on conducting an analysis of the socioeconomic variables that affect the productivity and participation of rural women in the labor market.Ítem Responsabilidad social empresarial y el desempeño financiero en las firmas para América Latina : el efecto del género en la junta directiva(Universidad EAFIT, 2023) Castillo Rivera, Ingrid Johana; Castillo Lerma, Claudia Ximena; Gómez Toro, Catalina; Gaitán Riaño, Sandra ConstanzaRecent advances in business organizational forms and the importance of corporate social responsibility have changed organizations' approaches to diversity and the inclusion of women on boards of directors.
