Impacto de la producción de café en las condiciones de vida en los municipios del departamento de Antioquia en el periodo de tiempo de 2011-2017
(Universidad Eafit, 2020) Saldarriaga Pareja, Juan Camilo; España Eljaiek, Irina
A panel database was used at the municipal level for the period 2011-2017, obtained from the Agronet and Terridata information sources from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADR) and the National Planning Department (DNP) respectively. With these data, synthetic indicators of living conditions were constructed from the factor analysis to evaluate the impact that coffee production had on the living conditions of coffee municipalities in the department of Antioquia. Through a fixed effects model, the estimation is made and positive evidence is found of the impact that coffee activity has on health and education conditions. The findings are subject to endogeneity due to variables omitted due to the lack of available information, however, they are in line with other studies developed on the subject.

Implementación de Lean Manufacturing en el sector hotelero de la ciudad de Medellín
(Universidad EAFIT, 2015) Arango Uribe, Juliana María; Arrieta Posada, Juan Gregorio

    (PONTIFICIA UNIV CATOLICA PERU, 2019-01-01) Lemos, M; Vasquez-Villegas, C; Roman-Calderon, JP
This work aimed to explore the factorial structure and the measurement invariance between groups of the emotional dependence questionnaire (EDQ). Participants included a random sample of 569 university students, 67.8% women and 51.2% had a romantic partner. The multigroup confirmatory factor analysis (MG-CFA) showed metric invariance for the EDQ. Particularly, the findings indicate that five of six scales of the questionnaire have an average variance extracted higher than 53% and a composite reliability of more than 0.75; the borderline expression scale was excluded. It was found that the EDQ has a strong measurement invariance degree between genders, ?2(365) = 750.14, p<.05; RMSEA= .07; CFI= .92; TLI= .92; and the presence of a partner, ?2(365) = 750.30, p<.05; RMSEA= .06; CFI= .92; TLI= .92. © 2019 Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru. Statiscal evaluation of the user-specified input parameters in an adaptive weight depth map algorithm
(Universidad EAFIT, 2011) Hoyos Sierra, Alejandro; Ruiz Salguero, Oscar Eduardo
In depth map generation, the settings of the algorithm parameters to yield an accurate disparity estimation are usually chosen empirically or based on unplanned experiments -- A structured statistical approach including classical and exploratory data analyses on over 14000 images to measure the relative influence of the parameters allows their tuning based on the number of bad pixels -- The implemented methodology improves the performance of dense depth map algorithms -- As a result of the statistical based tuning, the algorithm improves from 16.78% to 14.48% bad pixels rising 7 spots as per the Middlebury Stereo Evaluation Ranking Table -- The performance is measured based on the distance of the algorithm results vs. the Ground Truth by Middlebury -- Future work aims to achieve the tuning by using significantly smaller data sets on fractional factorial and response surface design of experiments

Towards an empirical model of the UX: A factor analysis study
(Universidad de los Andes, 2014-01-01) Ariza, N.; Maya, J.
One of the key factors to bear in mind when it comes to developing innovative products is a satisfying and pleasurable user experience (UX). Although there are many models and definitions of UX, most of them have been proposed intuitively. From themes and elements previously identified as essential for an UX model, a study of exploratory factor analysis (EFA ) was performed. We found eight factors in Before-UX-stage, 7 in During-UX and 17 in After-UX stage. Similar UX aspects are expressed in different ways trough the different stages and factors. There are differences in terms of how a factor could weight and relate to others regarding the UX-stage. Moreover, while some factors are consistent with the literature, others are new. Most of the factors give us an idea about the articulation of variables and the way some factors relate to others.
