Trefftz Gómez, HelmuthIn the Colombian construction industry it is recognized as a general practice that di!erent designers deliver 2D drawings to the project construction team -- Some 3D modeling applications are used but only with commercial intentions, thus wasting visualization tools that facilitate the understanding of the project, that allow the coordination of plans between di!erent specialists, and that can prevent errors with high impact on costs in the construction phase of the project -- As a continuation of the project "immersive virtual reality for construction" developed by EAFIT University, the present work intends to demonstrate how a collaborative virtual environment can be helpful in order to improve visualization of construction projects and achieve the interaction of di!erent specialties, evaluating the impact of collaborative work in the design process of the same -- The end result of this research is an application created using freely available tools and a use case scenario on how this application can be used to perform review meetings by di!erent specialist in real time -- Initial test on the system has been made with civil engineering students showing that this virtual reality tool ease the burden of performing reviews where traditionally plans and sharing the same geographical space were neededÍtem Combining fuzzy and PID control for an unmanned helicopter(IEEE Communications Society, 2005-01-01) Sanchez, E.N.; Becerra, H.M.; Velez, C.M.; Sanchez, E.N.; Becerra, H.M.; Velez, C.M.; Universidad EAFIT. Departamento de Ciencias; Modelado MatemáticoThis paper reports the synthesis of a controller for the X-Cell mini-helicopter. It is developed on basis of the most realistic mathematical model actually availble ([1]). A combined control structure is proposed: Mamdani controllers keep set points for an altitude/attitude controller. These controllers are designed in the simplest rule base. Altitude/attitude controller is constituted for conventional SISO PID controllers for z-position and roll, pitch and yaw angles. This control scheme mimics the action of an expert pilot. The proposed scheme is tested via simulations; it presents a good performance for hover flight, and control position in slow speed. © 2005 IEEE.Ítem Compendium of M.Sc. publications on numerical estimation of effective properties of porous materials(Universidad EAFIT, 2014) Osorno Tejada, María Camila; Ruíz Salguero, Oscar EduardoÍtem Control and parameter estimation of a mini-helicopter robot using rapid prototyping tools(World Scientific and Engineering Academy and Society (WSEAS) Press, 2006-01-01) Vélez S., C.M.; Agudelo, A.; Universidad EAFIT. An example is presented in a software-in-the-loop context, showing all possibilities of the software environment including supervisory, estimation, linearization, and control tasks.Ítem Coupled CFD Shape Optimization for aerodynamic profiles(Universidad EAFIT, 2015) Giraldo Arias, Santiago; García Ruíz, Manuel JulioThe present document deals with the optimization of shape of aerodynamic profiles -- The objective is to reduce the drag coefficient on a given profile without penalising the lift coefficient -- A set of control points defining the geometry are passed and parameterized as a B-Spline curve -- These points are modified automatically by means of CFD analysis -- A given shape is defined by an user and a valid volumetric CFD domain is constructed from this planar data and a set of user-defined parameters -- The construction process involves the usage of 2D and 3D meshing algorithms that were coupled into own- code -- The volume of air surrounding the airfoil and mesh quality are also parametrically defined -- Some standard NACA profiles were used by obtaining first its control points in order to test the algorithm -- Navier-Stokes equations were solved for turbulent, steady-state ow of compressible uids using the k-epsilon model and SIMPLE algorithm -- In order to obtain data for the optimization process an utility to extract drag and lift data from the CFD simulation was added -- After a simulation is run drag and lift data are passed to the optimization process -- A gradient-based method using the steepest descent was implemented in order to define the magnitude and direction of the displacement of each control point -- The control points and other parameters defined as the design variables are iteratively modified in order to achieve an optimum -- Preliminary results on conceptual examples show a decrease in drag and a change in geometry that obeys to aerodynamic behavior principlesÍtem Desarrollo de un algoritmo de corte de mallas tridimensionales en ambientes virtuales con aplicaciones en simuladores quirúrgicos(Universidad EAFIT, 2009) Peniche González, Amaury Andrés; Díaz León, Christian AndrésÍtem Desarrollo de un modelo predictivo computacional para el diagnóstico de la condición de bombas centrífugas(Universidad EAFIT, 2005) Botero Herrrera, Francisco Javier; Castañeda Heredia, Leonel FranciscoÍtem Design of a control system for interferometric fringe stabilization system with remote access(SPIE, 2013-11-18) Espitia-Gómez, Javier; Ángel Toro, Luciano; Velásquez Prieto, Daniel; Universidad EAFIT. Departamento de Ciencias Básicas; Óptica AplicadaStability in a fringe pattern is a necessary condition in interferometric processes, such as holography, and not always is enough the use of passive stabilization systems, like holographic tables, in particular, when perturbations are caused by thermal or acoustic variations. For these cases, active systems are required. In this work it is presented the implementation of a control system for interferometric fringes stabilization. The interferometric arrangement characteristics are also discussed, which permits to act independently over each of the interferometer's arms by means of two piezoelectric actuators that change the length of the optical path of light that goes through, in order to perturb the system and simultaneously compensate this perturbation in real time. It is also shown that the proposed system allows evaluating the control system's performance subjected to diverse perturbations, and it is shown how remote access was given to the implemented platform. © (2013) COPYRIGHT Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE).
