The wireless intercom devices presented here enable communication between any two of these products through specialized synchronization options. This communication system consists of two functionally linked radiofrequency intercoms in the 2.4GHz free band. Additionally, the work presents a measurement of transport costs and the increase they have had in the 2017-2018 period in Wire Mesh Corporation (WMC), reviewing figures, statistical data, reports of the transport industry and the drivers which have led to companies that offer transportation services to drastically increase their rates due to the lack of drivers and the changes in the contractual conditions they must offer in the labor market to attract new ones. Another of the analysis developed in this paper shows the regions of origin of the goods, the relationship of truck loads and the impact on transport costs that Wire Mesh Corporation (WMC) has suffered due to the lack of trucks. In reference to the theoretical framework of this paper, the concept of costs and how these have affected the gross profit margin of Wire Mesh Corporation (WMC) are explained. Finally, it is important to advise that this paper is based on real and recent figures on the economy and the legal framework of transport in the United States to assess the impact of transportation costs on a real sector company over time. Departamento de Ingeniería Mecánica; Estudios en Mantenimiento (GEMI)Structural railway transport elements are typically designed to work for at least 30 years without undergoing major maintenance. However, real-life operational conditions present behaviors different to the model predicted during the initial design phase, which affects the lifetime of the elements in question. This is the case of first-generation railway vehicles which operates in the city of Medellín, Colombia, as the bolster beam presented cracks after 12 years of operation, possibly due to undesired impacts between the bogie and the pivot of the bolster beam. Monitoring vibrational signals would give some sort of an insight into impact phenomena; however, herein lies the problem, as they are difficult to identify using only vibration signals, occurring during time events that take place in a speed-varying system. In this article, the authors present a technique that automatically detects impacts using multiple in-between time/frequency representations, ranking them according to their capacity to discriminate between impact events. One way to test those designs is to construct a representative full-scale specimen and test it under the most critical load conditions in a controlled laboratory. Herein, we present a case of study of the fatigue test performed over a bolster beam redesigned in Universidad EAFIT belonging to a railway vehicle. The test was composed by three stages, each one testing a different load hypothesis. The bolster beam was instrumented at the most critical locations, following the results of a FEM analysis previously computed. Departamento de Ingeniería de Diseño; Ingeniería de Diseño (GRID)This article presents a dynamic analysis of the behaviour of a sample of hygroscopic particulate compressed material in the context of diverse scenarios of the product's lifecycle. The analysis is executed using two complementary methods: (a) an experimental study that recreates a particular impact situation in a controlled physical environment, and (b) a static virtual analysis developed under the Finite Element Method (FEM) for the evaluation of vibration effects on the product. The objective of the analysis is to determine, on one hand, the precise compressing pressure that enables the powder to maintain cohesion throughout the handling and transporting stages, and yet be easily disaggregated manually for it to be used as intended in the final stage of its lifecycle. On the other hand, it is expected of both simulations to estimate an incidence in the behaviour of the compressed powder sample derived from its geometric characteristics and its particular handling and transportation situation, with the goal of defining ideal conditions for the product packaging. © February 2016 IJENS.Ítem Infraestructura vial: análisis comparado entre Chile y Colombia 2000-2015. With the purpose of contributing to this topic, in order to contribute to this subject, this paper summarizes from past research experiences the use of Head-Up Display systems applied to the automobile industry, covering it from two main points of discussion: the first one, from a technical point of view, in which the main principles of optical design associated with a moderate-cost experimental set up are brought out; and the second one, an operational approach where an applied driving graphical interface is presented. Departamento de Ingeniería Mecánica; Estudios en Mantenimiento (GEMI)This work describes an analysis of the effect of the transition curves in the coupling elements between the carbody and the bogie, by means of recorded variables under commercial operation conditions of a railway vehicle. A set of field tests are developed and applied to the railway system as a basis to validate a numerical model. The dataset is obtained from a numerical model based on the multi-body systems theory using a transient method. The study focuses on the dynamic evaluation of the vehicle to determine the transversal dynamic effect generated by the circulation in the transition curve sections, especially in curves with short radius. The work includes a case study of a passenger railway, and it is used to identify aspects of the railway system that could be improved by the operators, such as inspection routines, rail track design and elements subjected to considerable loads. Departamento de Ingeniería de Producción; Materiales de IngenieríaFailure of landing gears in aircrafts represents approximately a 10% of the total of failures reported for the aerospace industry. This chapter discusses the main causes of these failures, their prevention, and a complete analysis of three cases of failure of this kind of components. On the other hand, failures of suspension systems in vehicles represent approximately a 13% of the total of failures for the automotive industry. In this industry, it is a common practice to replace failed parts without any further investigation of the root causes of failure, which can make the amount of failures to be underestimated. This chapter will discuss the main types and causes of failures of suspension systems. One case of failure of this kind of components will be analyzed and discussed in detail. © 2016 Elsevier Ltd.
