People is increasingly connected and has higher access to information, what is also increasing the risks they face on-the-grid. This is partly because of the way in which social networks are using artificial intelligence to collect data generated from user’s interactions with the network. Such information is being used to profile users for future advertising or simply to keep them connected for longer periods, so the artificial intelligence can learn more from the way the user interacts with the network. Colombian law prohibits the collection of personal data of children and adolescents. However, this prohibition has no effect, because there is easy access to digital social networks. This implies risks that can be mitigated with more efficient laws that are consistent with current reality. This entails risks for children and adolescents who, depending on their mental maturity and decision-making capacity, may or may not be able to assume these risks. Some of the risks to which children and adolescents can be subjected are the radicalization of thoughts, limiting the free development of the personality, habeas data, extortion or sexual crimes. This research becomes relevant because there are no studies about this, which implies many social risks by directly influencing the future of society such as children and adolescents.Ítem Autoconcepto y uso de Instagram en estudiantes universitarios(Universidad EAFIT, 2019) Castro Barros, Maria Adelaida; Charry Graciano, Santiago; Echeverri Álvarez, JonathanThis study explores the perception of university students about the possible relationship of self-concept and the use of Instagram, therefore it was sought to identify the self-concept in some EAFIT students belonging to the School of Humanities, was also investigated the relationship that can be presented between Instagram and lifestyle in students and the influence that using Instagram has on the self-concept of college students. Un análisis a la luz de los nuevos medios de comunicación(Universidad Eafit, 2020) Hoyos González, Manuela; Posada Botero, José DavidDue to the new era of technology, the way the world communicates has changed. The interactions carried out today are done through social networks, which has led to some figures falling into disuse, such as titles, contracts, and even expressions of affection expressed through handwritten letters. Just as the world and technology are in constant evolution, everything around us must progress at the same pace. Human interactions have become countless messages sent through WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and e-mail. With these applications, secrets are shared, relationships are created, contracts are drafted and sent, alliances are created, transactions are made, and sometimes what is communicated leads to breaches and contractual or non-contractual liabilities. This forces individuals to access justice by providing evidence of interactions and file sharing on the social networks listed, thus giving rise to the notion of an electronic document. Therefore, it aims to clarify the concept of electronic document, its regulation to show if it requires a special treatment. To this end, it analyzes the jurisprudential pronouncements on the subject and their requirements of existence, validity and effectiveness, in order to understand this figure within the Colombian civil process, and its procedural stages, as well as the assessment made by the judge. In addition, it proposes a study of comparative law, and an investigation into the legality of the electronic document, and whether its contribution to the process generates a violation of the right to privacy.Ítem El derecho a la libertad de expresión vs el derecho al buen nombre y el derecho a la honra en el ciberespacio : un análisis de la jurisprudencia de la Corte Constitucional sobre redes sociales(Universidad EAFIT, 2024) Piedrahita Vallejo, José Manuel; Agudelo Vallejo, Alberto; Sánchez Vásquez, CarolinaPublicación El Fact-Checking y la desinformación política en redes sociales durante los períodos electorales en Colombia(Universidad EAFIT, 2025) Serna Cano, Elizabeth; Gándara Guerra, NereaThis research paper analyzes the role of fact-checking platforms in the detection and mitigation of political disinformation in social networks during electoral periods in Colombia. Based on a mixed approach, quantitative (survey to 121 citizens) and qualitative (in-depth interviews to three experts) techniques were combined to obtain a comprehensive view of the phenomenon. The results show that disinformation reaches its greatest intensity in electoral contexts, where sophisticated tactics are deployed that include images, audios and videos generated by artificial intelligence, as well as the strategic use of memes and humor to manipulate perceptions and polarize public opinion. Fact-checking platforms play an important role in the verification of information, although their scope and response capacity are insufficient in the face of the speed and magnitude of the spread of disinformation. It highlights the need to strengthen media and political literacy from basic education, as well as to implement regulations that promote algorithmic transparency without infringing on freedom of expression. The research concludes that the phenomenon of political disinformation represents a structural challenge for Colombian democracy, which requires a comprehensive and articulated response between civil society, the media, digital platforms and the State.Publicación El incremento de la felicidad y bienestar subjetivo del adulto mayor: la importancia de la cultura y el fortalecimiento de las redes sociales en el programa REDCUNA (Universidad EAFIT, 2020) Paternina Mecías, Johon Arturo; Vargas Sáenz, Mario EnriqueIn recent years, subjective well-being and happiness have become important as indicators of social development, to such an extent that they have been included in the design of public policies and social programs or projects.
