It explores the relation between the country's international commerce and its diplomatic actions by using statistical data and official and academic reports about the contemporary international relations. The authors argue that the commercial liberalism is a useful perspective for the analysis of Colombia's current foreign policy, especially by using the concept of the capitalist peace because the authors have found in commerce a basic platform for the country's international relations.Ítem Contra la alegoría: hegemonía y disidencia en la literatura latinoamericana del siglo XIX, de Gustavo Faverón Patriau(Universidad EAFIT, 2015-06-01) Pérez Wilson, PabloÍtem El liberalismo entendido como una perspectiva ética = Liberalism understood as an ethical perspective(Universidad EAFIT, 2017-10) Peralta Vélez, Ana María; Universidad EAFITOne of the reasons why liberalism aspires to be a better form of political organization of society lies in the supposed impartiality of its normative principles as opposed to comprehensive positions of the good. This article follows Michael Sandel's critique of John Rawls' theory to show that a liberal society cannot avoid assuming ethical positions. To this end, some features of the debate between communitarianism and liberalism are addressed, problematizing the division between the moral and the political on which the latter defends its neutrality. From there, the discussion that Sandel engages with Rawls is extracted, objecting to the latter, that the concrete determination of rights in a liberal society cannot do without the discussion on values and ideas of a good life. Finally, some reflections are offered by way of conclusionÍtem En busca de una comunidad intelectual hispanoamericana: circulación de ideas, autores hispanoamericanos y liberalismo en Colombia, 1848-1890(Universidad EAFIT, 2019-07-31) Varela Yepes, Jorge Andrés; Universidad EAFITÍtem Hannah Arendt y Jurgen Habermas : del republicanismo político a un modelo procedimental de la democracia = Hannah Arendt and Jurgen Habermas : from political republicanism to a procedural model of democracy(Universidad EAFIT, 2013-04) Cortés Arbeláez, Alejandro; Universidad EAFITÍtem Is it Possible to Democratise Liberalism? It begins with an introduction to the political context that animates his thought, then outlines the basic points of discord between Locke and Robert Filmer, one of his most important objects of intellectual confrontation, and then elucidates some of his main theses on the formation of the social state based on the notion of the state of nature, the critique of monarchy, and the criticism of monarchy. The article then outlines the basic points of disagreement between Locke and Robert Filmer, one of the most important objects of intellectual confrontation between them, thus elucidating some of their main theses on the formation of the social state based on the notion of the state of nature, the critique of monarchy and the division of political power with the role of property in it. This fall means a nihilistic state in society, because for the author it finds itself with a lack of values when it manages to refute its previous morality, since there is an absence of an entity that judges and determines good and evil; This state and refutation of God is due to various historical and political events, such as the Peace of Westphalia, the Industrial Revolution and the French Revolution, which brought with them new beliefs and ideals, such as the Enlightenment and liberalism as hegemonic political theory which promotes a secular state and a division of this with the church, thus creating a new social paradigm and building a new morality on the destroyed, a morality where man and his individuality as the center of the world and not God. With regard to the above, as researchers we will analyze how true is Nietzsche's assertion that Christian morality is nonexistent as a hegemonic scale of values in today's society.Ítem Sobre las dos libertades en Isaiah Berlin = On The Two Freedoms In Isaiah Berlin(Universidad EAFIT, 2010-01) Londoño Hurtado, Alejandro; Universidad EAFITÍtem Una conversación con Robert Nozick acerca de Liberland = A conversation with Robert Nozick about Liberland(Universidad EAFIT, 2017-10) Pineda Toro, Mariana; Aristizábal Saldarriaga, Carolina; Universidad EAFITRobert Nozick's libertarian variant remains one of the most unique modern updates of liberalism. Through the recreation of a hypothetical interview, the American theorist engages here in a dialogue about the political constitution of Liberland, a no-man's land appropriated by Vít Jedlička and organized under the principles of libertarianism, the clarification of which is the purpose of this text. In the course of the conversation, comments and questions arise that allow further clarifications about the role of private property in this territory and its relation to negative liberty and justice; the necessity and form of political government; mechanisms of security and protection of freedoms; the place of political rights and taxation, among others, accompanied by a final reflection.
