(Universidad EAFIT, 2021) Rodríguez Patiño, Juan Camilo; Agudelo Calle, Jhonny Alejandro; Escobar Escobar, Ana Cristina
The motivations of lottery players have been widely studied, especially because through them, the State can establish its regulatory policies to encourage a greater number of users, achieve a higher value of the amount bet and the legalization of the other games modalities that are not making transfers to the health system in Colombia as indicated by the norm. This research evaluated the applicability of the motivational studies carried out at an international level in a regional context, thus determining the lottery player's consumption motivation in Medellin. Likewise, the needs, emotions, and level of involvement that players have with the lottery game. The research method used was the qualitative which was executed through 13 in-depth interviews where the instant thoughts of the players are known without limiting their answers. The main motivation found in lottery players was based on the desire to win money to help others, but this help is based on reciprocity, since they expect to satisfy different needs, especially those related to security. Consequently, the lottery player hopes to avoid the uncertainty of tomorrow, but while this is happening, he is happily excited just by imagining the possibilities of improving his life and the lives of all those with whom he identifies.

(Universidad EAFIT, 2024) Múnera Quintero, Victor Alfonso; Aguirre, David Alejandro; Lemos Hoyos, Mariantonia
This study aimed to design, implement, and evaluate a behavioral intervention using the EAST Framework with the goal of improving the burnout index by increasing disconnection behaviors among nursing assistants, gerontology workers, and caregivers at a Gerontological Home specializing in degenerative diseases (dementia) in Medellín. The intervention consisted of four components: 1. A physical space called the Disconnection Zone, 2. Videos called Wellness Capsules, 3. A WhatsApp group named Conscious Well-being, and 4. Another WhatsApp group called Sharing Well-being. The intervention was evaluated through a qualitative workshop, as initial high desirability prevented participants from reporting burnout levels at the beginning of the intervention. The results indicate that the Disconnection Zone was well received by the healthcare staff, and the disconnection groups were also positively valued, though variability in their use was observed. Additionally, the disconnection videos became a key tool for those experiencing unexpected moments of unrest and stress, due to their easy access and brevity, which allowed them to be used as a quick strategy to increase moments of disconnection for the healthcare staff at the Gerontological Home.

The urbanization is a megatrend. It is considered that by 2030 a large part of the population will be settled in cities and therefore will demand infrastructure resources. In Colombia, Bogotá's participation in the construction sector is evident with 40% over the rest of the country. In this context, small and medium sized companies denominated in Colombia as SMEs, distributors of measurement equipment, face a big challenge in the market. Thus, the objective of this research is to describe the experience in the procurement process, with an emphasis on touchpoints, by companies that demand construction measurement equipment. In addition, the expectation is to contribute to SMEs that do Business to Business (B2B) marketing and require to know the procurement process of their customers, to apply efficient marketing strategies. Regarding the target audience, this work is oriented to the people in charge of the acquiring process in construction companies, who will be interviewed to capture the information that will be the primary source of this research.

The growing need for body care, physical fitness trends and the rise of women who postpone motherhood and dedicate themselves to their careers have stimulated the development of gyms around the world. These people tend to look for places with user experience design and activities different from those that are traditionally done in them, which leads to pole dance as a different option. In this research we seek to know the current experience of the students of Medellín´s Pole Sport Studio through the emotions and their relationship with the positive and negative aspects of the users to create the ideal user experience. Most of the communication with the students of the academy is not directly spoken, which makes it difficult to obtain information about their expectations, behaviors and emotions. For the elaboration of this research, the qualitative method was used in an exploratory research, through two interviews to the professors, two interviews to the mothers of the students and two group sessions conducted to two focus groups in the Gesell chamber; the first with young people between the ages 13 to 18, and the second with women between the ages 20 to 30. The data obtained was organized in a map of user experiences, and based on them, improvement opportunities were identified in the experience maps. Finally, the blueprint was proposed as an alternative to be implemented by the academy, in order to achieve the ideal experience in the users.

According to Gross, Sheppes, & Urry (2011), a person’s mood or state of mind are the feelings that people carries, those feelings remain over time, and are manifested through internal stimuli, and as a result produce an emotion that can affect a person’s purchase behavior. The internal stimuli are related to thoughts, imagery, pleasure, entertainment, with sensations derived from physiological activity, or to a person’s thoughts and values (Sinha, Kinderman, & Moody, 2010) and manifest themselves through a triad of reaction, made up by physiological excitations (stimuli), body language, and subjective emotions related to a person’s mood or state of mind (Scherer, 2000). This exploratory investigation seeks to understand the connection between emotions and mood and the decision-making progress, regarding footwear purchases by women. To achieve it, this study relies on qualitative and quantitative methods applied to a test group composed by women from Medellín, Colombia, in order to establish the correlation between moods and emotions and their influence over the decisions in the process of purchasing footwear. The evidence shows the influence of emotions, moods, and personality and their effects in people’s experience have when purchasing footwear. This study can be used by professionals in the footwear marketing sector, interested in studying the decision-making process and creating long lasting links and connections with consumers.

This research explores the perceptions of employees from medium and large companies in Medellín, with the purpose of examining the factors that influence the adoption of performance evaluation. This study begins with a brief historical overview of evaluation, revealing that evaluative practices have been incorporated into organizations since the 18th century and have evolved considerably over time in a constant quest for precision and effectiveness. Through a literature review, theoretical foundations of performance evaluation are explored, along with their practical implications in the workplace. To achieve the objective, a qualitative study is conducted, collecting data through semi-structured interviews. The data collected and analyzed suggest that, although there is a perception of the usefulness of performance evaluation, factors such as subjectivity, lack of knowledge among human resource management professionals, the role of the leader, and emotions with negative connotations hinder its adoption. Additionally, this experience highlights the need for organizations to rethink evaluative practices and review their organizational structures and cultures to promote participation and the successful achievement of performance evaluation goals.
