Ítem The Techniques for Overcoming Depression Questionnaire: Mokken Scale Analysis, Reliability, and Concurrent Validity in Depressed Cardiac Patients(SPRINGER/PLENUM PUBLISHERS, 2017-02-01) Freedland, K.E.; Lemos, M.; Doyle, F.; Steinmeyer, B.C.; Csik, I.; Carney, R.M.; Freedland, K.E.; Lemos, M.; Doyle, F.; Steinmeyer, B.C.; Csik, I.; Carney, R.M.; Universidad EAFIT. Departamento de Humanidades; Estudios en PsicologíaThe Techniques for Overcoming Depression (TOD) questionnaire assesses the frequency with which patients being treated for depression use cognitive-behavioral techniques in daily life. This study examined its latent structure, reliability and concurrent validity in depressed cardiac patients. The TOD was administered at the initial and final treatment sessions in three trials of cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) (n = 260) for depression in cardiac patients. Mokken scaling was used to determine its dimensionality. The TOD is unidimensional in depressed cardiac patients, both at the initial evaluation (H = .46) and the end of treatment (H = .47). It is sensitive to change and the total score correlates with therapist ratings of the patient’s socialization to CBT (r = .40, p < .05), homework adherence (r = .36, p < .05), and use of cognitive-behavioral techniques (r = .51, p < .01). TOD scores were associated with post-treatment depression scores in two of the trials (p < .01 in both analyses). The TOD is a unidimensional, reliable, valid, and clinically informative measure of self-reported use of cognitive-behavioral techniques for overcoming depression in cardiac patients. Studies of the TOD in other depressed patient populations are needed. © 2016, Springer Science+Business Media New York.Ítem The Techniques for Overcoming Depression Scale: Mokken Scale Analysis, Reliability, and Concurrent Validity in Depressed Cardiac Patients(SPRINGER/PLENUM PUBLISHERS, 2017-08-01) Lemos, Mariantonia; Lemos, Mariantonia; Universidad EAFIT. Departamento de Humanidades; Estudios en PsicologíaDepression, anxiety and anger trait have been shown to be factors related to poor prognosis in patients with cardiovascular disease. A sample of 168 patients with ischemic heart disease that have had a cardiac event in the last month (age: Mean = 64 years, SD = 11; 66.7 % men) was evaluated to verify the existence of negative affect as a common factor among the previous emotions in these patients. Patients answered the Spielberger depression, anxiety and anger trait questionnaires. Exploratory factorial analyses were carried out to confirm the factorial structure of the scales. Confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the existence of negative affect as a higher order factor (X2 = 3.42, p >.05; CFI >.95, TLI >.95, SRMS <.05). These results suggest that it is important to consider dimensional models for the treatment of emotions in this population. © 2018, Universidad Catolica de Colombia. Departamento de Humanidades; Estudios en PsicologíaDepression and stress have been related with poor Health Related Quality of Life (HRQoL) prognosis. However, it is not clear when these depressive symptoms should be measured. A sample of 177 Coronary Heart Disease patients were followed for 15 months aimed to compare the effect of depression and stress measure at time of hospitalization and three months later on the physical HRQoL trajectory. Linear growth models' results showed that depression and stress after discharge are negatively correlated with the physical HRQoL and depressive symptoms negatively affect the prognosis of these patients. © 2020 Universidade de Brasilia.Ítem Psychosocial factors related with stress in colombian professors(UNIV SANTO TOMAS, 2019-01-01) Lemos, M; Calle, G; Roldan, T; Valencia, M; Orejuela, JJ; Roman-Calderon, JP; Lemos, M; Calle, G; Roldan, T; Valencia, M; Orejuela, JJ; Roman-Calderon, JP; Universidad EAFIT. Departamento de Humanidades; Estudios en PsicologíaObjective: to evaluate the psychosocial factors associated with stress in a sample of professors from a private Colombian university. Method: Correlational descriptive study of an intentional sample of 61 professors (age range 25 to 63 years, 65,6% men). The patient's health questionnaire PHQ-9, Generalized Anxiety Questionnaire GAD-7, Perceived Stress Scale PSS-14 and a questionnaire of psychosocial work factors were used. In addition, blood pressure measurements were taken. Results: 21,3% of professors had significant levels of stress. There are more need to work at home, family-work and work-family interference in professors with stress, while control is lower. It should be noted that these teachers also have greater emotional symptoms. The final model showed that the need to work at home and the family - work interference explain 45,6% of the variance in teachers' work stress.Ítem Invarianza del Cuestionario de Dependencia Emocional entre sexos y situación sentimental en universitarios(PONTIFICIA UNIV CATOLICA PERU, 2019-01-01) Lemos, M; Vasquez-Villegas, C; Roman-Calderon, JP; Lemos, M; Vasquez-Villegas, C; Roman-Calderon, JP; Universidad EAFIT. Departamento de Humanidades; Estudios en PsicologíaThis work aimed to explore the factorial structure and the measurement invariance between groups of the emotional dependence questionnaire (EDQ). Participants included a random sample of 569 university students, 67.8% women and 51.2% had a romantic partner. The multigroup confirmatory factor analysis (MG-CFA) showed metric invariance for the EDQ. Particularly, the findings indicate that five of six scales of the questionnaire have an average variance extracted higher than 53% and a composite reliability of more than 0.75; the borderline expression scale was excluded. It was found that the EDQ has a strong measurement invariance degree between genders, ?2(365) = 750.14, p<.05; RMSEA= .07; CFI= .92; TLI= .92; and the presence of a partner, ?2(365) = 750.30, p<.05; RMSEA= .06; CFI= .92; TLI= .92. © 2019 Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru. Departamento de Humanidades; Estudios en PsicologíaThe objective of the present study was to establish the characteristics of the pro environmental behavior of Colombian university students; that is, to identify the attitudes, beliefs, valuations, practices and environmental knowledge of Colombian students from different university careers. For this purpose, a cross-sectional descriptive-correlational study was carried out with a sample of 1503 students from different university careers in five Colombian cities, with an incidence probability of.5, 95 % confidence and an error of 2.5 %. The participants were randomly selected within each university and the questionnaires applied were the Pro environmental Behaviour Inventory (ICP) and the Environmental Knowledge Test (TCA); the latter was developed specifically for the purposes of this research. The students surveyed were found to have positive environmental attitudes and beliefs in most dimensions. The level of environmental awareness of students in the five selected cities is low. Although no significant differences were observed between the careers with respect to beliefs, valuations, actions and environmental knowledge, paradoxically the students of environmental sciences occupied inferior places to those who study economic and administrative sciences. Thus, in the analysis of specific items it was evidenced that the students of environmental sciences develop diverse anti environmental actions, in a similar way to the behavior patterns of the students of the other researched careers. With respect to the region, the results show that it is possible to conclude that there are differences according to the city with respect to the beliefs, valuation, knowledge and environmental actions of the students surveyed. Among the findings it is worth highlighting the results of Bucaramanga in terms of the report of environmental actions and the highest average in the TCA observed in that city. Similarly, Cali stands out along with Bucaramanga in its results, while Medelln obtained the lowest scores in environmental knowledge. Finally, in the report on environmental actions in university students, contradictory results are observed, given that it presents a controversial profile because people perform pro-environmental and anti-environmental behaviors at the same time, with positive environmental attitudes and beliefs in accordance with these attitudes. Regarding the knowledge about the environment, in the descriptive results the average of the test was 12 points, which means that the students failed the test. The multivariate analysis showed that the theoretical model on which the construction of the ICP was based and the instruments from which items were selected for its conformation, apparently has great predictive power with respect to the verbal report of environmental actions; however, the TCA, a test constructed specifically for this research, would covariate with almost all the factors of the ICP but does not predict causally the actions reported by the students. In general, this study shows that university institutions and the Colombian government have the challenge of ensuring that environmental education achieves the expected results for the fulfillment of both the country and the worlds environmental goals. The results also demonstrates the need to articulate policies, actions and regulations to improve the quality of environmental education in universities, as well as to implement citizen behavior programs that promote responsible consumption, given that knowledge does not correlate with effective actions in terms of public services, green brands and solid urban waste management, among other areas. © 2019 Centro Interamericano de Investigaciones Psicologicas y Ciencias Afines.Ítem Theoretical Considerations for the Articulation of Emotion and Argumentation in the Arguer: A Proposal for Emotion Regulation in Deliberation(Springer Netherlands, 2019-01-09) González González M.; Gómez J.; Lemos M.; González González M.; Gómez J.; Lemos M.; Universidad EAFIT. Departamento de Humanidades; Estudios en PsicologíaThe concern for the role of emotion in argumentative encounters has rested upon the concept of emotion as arguments, emotions to obtain the adherence of the audience and reflect the virtues of a good arguer. In this paper, we focus on understanding emotion and argumentation based on cognitive approaches that identify the relationship between the two elements, to propose the use of emotion regulation strategies in deliberative dialogue. Bearing in mind that the intensity of emotional responses may, in some cases, hamper one’s capacity to solve problems during a practical argument, we suggest that the use of emotion regulation strategies may favor deliberative dialogue, leading to more adaptive emotional responses and, in turn, better argumentative encounters, rendering decision-making more efficient. This article conceptualizes argumentation, revealing the historical path of emotion in studies on argumentation. It presents the concepts of emotion and emotion regulation, followed by the function of emotion regulation in argumentative encounters, illustrating this in two different situations. We conclude with the contribution made by the use of strategies for emotion regulation during deliberative dialogue. © 2019, Springer Nature B.V.Ítem Factores psicosociales asociados al estrés en profesores universitarios colombianos(UNIV SANTO TOMAS, 2019-02-15) Lemos, M.; Calle, M.; Lemos, M.; Calle, M.; Universidad EAFIT.
