The present article intend to identify and spread the traditional practices of performance, interpretation and construction of the violin in the traditional music ensembles of the municipality of Pasto (Colombia) -- After the fieldwork carried out between the months of August and September of 2017, a collective case study was centred in four empirical violinists of the region in whom the most distinctive aspects of these practices are appreciated -- In the absence of previous studies or researches on the development and inclusion of the violin in the typical and traditional ensembles of Pasto and its surroundings, this work is expected to contribute to the rescue and recognition of this phenomenon as an important part of the musical identity of Pasto
