Nowadays the symphonic conductor or band conductor, must be an excellent musician and pedagogue, also a qualified interpreter. For this reason, based on the experience of pedagogy and the direction of symphonic bands in Colombia and knowledge of the bands circle, this work tries to review the most important aspects in the direction and interpretation from individual aspect:-musical conductor-, until the collective -the band-, focused on the concept of the conductor as a musical trainer and interpreter, identify elements, parameters and concepts that make possible the approach to interpretation, oriented to the collective practices of wind and percussion groups; thus generating reflections and discussions about the practical implementation of training and interpretive processes, focused on the direction of children and youth symphony bands, as a contribution to the work of conductor of symphonic bands in Colombia.
