This degree paper examines transportation costs and its evolution from the recent entry into force of the ELD Rule in the United States and the consequences derived from the current state of its economy, analyzing, with economic data –unemployment and inflation figures–, the rule, the impact it generates on manufacturers who need to ship their products to customers and the context of the transportation industry. Additionally, the work presents a measurement of transport costs and the increase they have had in the 2017-2018 period in Wire Mesh Corporation (WMC), reviewing figures, statistical data, reports of the transport industry and the drivers which have led to companies that offer transportation services to drastically increase their rates due to the lack of drivers and the changes in the contractual conditions they must offer in the labor market to attract new ones.
Another of the analysis developed in this paper shows the regions of origin of the goods, the relationship of truck loads and the impact on transport costs that Wire Mesh Corporation (WMC) has suffered due to the lack of trucks.
In reference to the theoretical framework of this paper, the concept of costs and how these have affected the gross profit margin of Wire Mesh Corporation (WMC) are explained.
Finally, it is important to advise that this paper is based on real and recent figures on the economy and the legal framework of transport in the United States to assess the impact of transportation costs on a real sector company over time. Thus, it is expected that with this document the sales and financial departments of Wire Mesh Corporation (WMC) will be able to make decisions based on actual transportation costs.

Este trabajo de grado examina los costos del transporte y su evolución a partir de la reciente entrada en vigencia de la Norma ELD (Electronic Logging Device Rule) en Estados Unidos y de las consecuencias derivadas del estado actual de su economía, analizando, con datos económicos –cifras de desempleo y la inflación–, la norma, la afectación que esta genera en los fabricantes que necesitan despachar sus productos a los clientes y el contexto de la industria del transporte. Adicionalmente, presenta una medición de los costos del transporte y del incremento que estos han tenido en el período 2017-2018 en la empresa Wire Mesh Corporation (WMC), revisando cifras, datos estadísticos, reportes de la industria del transporte y los drivers que han llevado a que las empresas que ofrecen servicios de transporte hayan aumentado drásticamente sus tarifas en razón a la falta de conductores y a los cambios en las condiciones contractuales que deben ofrecer en el mercado laboral para atraer nuevos.
Otro de los análisis desarrollados en este trabajo muestra las regiones de origen de las mercancías, la relación de las cargas por camión y la afectación en los costos del transporte que Wire Mesh Corporation (WMC) ha sufrido por la falta de camiones.
En referencia al marco teórico del trabajo, se explica el concepto de costos y cómo estos han afectado el margen bruto de utilidad de Wire Mesh Corporation (WMC).
Finalmente, es importante anotar que este trabajo se basa en cifras reales y recientes de la economía y del marco legal del transporte de Estados Unidos para evaluar la afectación de los costos de transporte en una empresa del sector real a través del tiempo. Así, se espera que con este documento los departamentos de ventas y financiero de Wire Mesh Corporation (WMC) podrán tomar decisiones basadas en los costos reales del transporte.
