SaaS (software as a service) is a method of delivering applications over the Internet through subscription, in which service providers manage the applications that guarantee maintenance, software updates and information security. SaaS business has the function of generating recurring income, which is why it must be evaluated with indicators and financial rates different from the traditional ones. Through the analysis conducted, the need to identify these variables, how to measure them and what the financial strategy should be to implement the agreement with the results obtained was evidenced. This is how a diagnosis of the real situation and its effectiveness as an analysis tool was made. In addition, the responsible areas of PwC were consulted about the financial treatment that has been established for this line of business and based on this presented a proposal of the financial metrics that should be used as a tool for analysis and decision making that allows generating a strategy according to the business.

SaaS (Software as a Service) es un método de entrega de aplicaciones a través de internet por medio de suscripción, donde los proveedores del servicio administran las aplicaciones garantizando el mantenimiento, actualizaciones y seguridad de la información. Este tiene como característica generar ingresos recurrentes, razón por la que debe ser evaluado con métricas financieras diferentes a las tradicionales. Por medio del análisis realizado se evidenció la necesidad de identificar estas variables, cómo medirlas y cuál debe ser la estrategia financiera a implementar de acuerdo con los resultados. Se realizó un diagnóstico de la situación actual y su efectividad como herramienta de análisis. Adicionalmente, se consultó con las áreas responsables de PwC cómo ha sido el tratamiento financiero establecido y, con base en esto, se presentó una propuesta de las métricas financieras que deben utilizar como herramienta de análisis y toma de decisiones, para generar una estrategia acorde con el negocio.
