This is a quantitative research which pretended stablish the correlation between state- trait anxiety and musical performance -- For this goal, in first time, it used the STAI test (State-Trait Anxiety Inventory) by Spielberg, C.D was applied; Gorsuch, R.L & Lushene, R.E, which measures anxiety (trait-state) -- Likewise, it was necessary create an instrument to measure musical performance which was based on five categories: tuning, technique, interpretation, posture and general performance -- Both measurements were carried out in a group of fourteen (14) non-professional students from a music academy in the city of Medellin who performed at a year-end concert -- Despite being a small sample, the results were not conclusive, it could be observed that there is no significant correlation between state-trait anxiety with technique, tuning, posture and general performance -- Nonetheless, it was found that there is a significant correlation between state anxiety (r= -0,654) and trait anxiety (r= -0,730) with interpretation -- These results serve to carry out future studies in which it will be necessary to work with a larger sample and differentiate the musical performance according to the type of instrument used

La presente investigación de tipo cuantitativo pretende realizar una correlación entre ansiedad estado--rasgo y el desempeño musical -- Para ello se aplicó, por un lado, la prueba STAI (State-Trait Anxiety Inventory) de Spielberg, C.D; Gorsuch, R.L & Lushene, R.E, que mide ansiedad (rasgo- estado) -- Así mismo, se diseñó un instrumento para medir desempeño musical el cual evaluó afinación, técnica, interpretación, postura y desempeño general -- Ambas mediciones se llevaron a cabo en un grupo de catorce (14) estudiantes no profesionales de una academia musical de la ciudad de Medellín quienes se presentaron en un concierto de fin de año -- A pesar de ser una muestra pequeña, siendo los resultados no concluyentes, se pudo observar que no existe una correlación significativa entre ansiedad estado-rasgo con la técnica, afinación, postura y desempeño general -- No obstante, se encontró que si hay correlación significativa entre la ansiedad estado (r= -0,654) y ansiedad rasgo (r= -0,730) con la interpretación -- Dichos resultados sirven para realizar estudios futuros en los que será necesario trabajar con una muestra más grande y diferenciando el desempeño musical de acuerdo con el tipo de instrumento empleado
