Ítem Analysis of the regulation and control of privatized home public services in Argentina under the Kirchner period (2003-2015)(Universidad EAFIT, 2021-06) López, Andrea; Universidad de Buenos AiresThis article studies the contractual renegotiations with the privatized companies, providers of electricity, gas, drinking water and basic telephony in the metropolitan area and Greater Buenos Aires (AMBA), as well as their regulatory regime and the evolution of the entities of respective control, during the presidential terms of Néstor Kirchner and Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, in order to analyze the “crossover” or “tension” between the “pro-market” policies promoted from the structural reforms of the 1990s, the original initiatives to change the regulatory institutional framework, the regulations finally approved and the consolidated - and long-standing - practices in the operation of the organizationsdedicated to supervising the functioning of these essential public services. . Under this framework, when analyzing the cycle of design and implementation of regulatory policies, it is noted that those measures that advocated the comprehensive review of contracts and the definition of new regulatory frameworks and control entities were bypassed, generating a greater provision, for internal and external factors, to enter into rate agreements with the concessionaires, without correcting the deficits in state capacity inherited from the previous stage. In this way, the opportunity - as recommended by CEPAL (2011) - to use regulation as a “policy instrument” capable of reversing the asymmetry of power between the State, privatized companies and users is lost.Ítem La Corporalidad, un asunto para pensar en la organización(Universidad EAFIT, 01/06/2005) Ricardo Castaño Gaviria; Universidad EAFITÍtem Design and usability evaluation of a multi-input interface in an idTV environment(Springer Verlag, 2017-01-01) Téllez J.F.; Montoya J.C.; Trefftz H.; Universidad EAFIT. Departamento de Ingeniería de Sistemas; I+D+I en Tecnologías de la Información y las ComunicacionesIn recent years, and considering the rise of Interactive Digital Television (idTV), it has been great interest in the design of applications and services for this platform. However, the success of these applications largely depends on the ease of use and how users interact with them. For this reason, we have explored different interfaces and modes of interaction to improve the user experience with these applications in comparison with the traditional Remote-Control (RC). This article presents an interaction with idTV applications using multiple input control interfaces with different modes of interaction such as touch buttons, gesture recognition, voice recognition, and recognition of movements. These modes of interaction were validated through usability testing using a model of quasi-experimental evaluation of three dimensions, where each dimension represents respectively: users, tasks and control interfaces. As a result of the qualitative and quantitative assessments, we performed an analysis of possible improvements in the usability of a particular application of idTV. The results showed few differences between one multi-input control interface and one RC in tasks the user was familiar with, on the opposite, significant differences were found in performing tasks involving greater user interaction, such as the text input or navigation between menus. © Springer International Publishing AG 2017.Ítem Design of a competences based teaching model supported in the integration of repositories and LMS platforms for the automatic control of processes course(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2015-01-01) Gomez, G.I.C.; Diaz, T.A.G.; Zea, R.C.M.; Zapata, R.L.F.; Universidad EAFIT. Departamento de Ingeniería de Sistemas; I+D+I en Tecnologías de la Información y las ComunicacionesThe Automatic Process Control course is part of the Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering and Production Engineering programs, offered by EAFIT University (Medellin, Colombia). This course has had a number of reforms in recent years, from two academic spaces to one that contains all the content and features them from theoretical and practical components. With this transformation, was generated the need to reduce the time commitment to each of the thematic, causing learning issues in students. For this reason, we have proposed a new reform in the course through the implementation of a content management model based on competences and supported by the integration of repositories and LMS platforms. This model seeks to train students in the skills defined by the courses and because of this, it is important that the learning process provide mechanisms to validate the skill level of each student, taking into account the outcome of the validation should correspond directly to the skills acquired in the training process. To support this model, there are technological tools as platforms for learning management and learning object repositories that support the online teaching and learning processes, and support the use of standards, generating interoperability, reusability, adaptability and scalability content. © 2014 IEEE.Ítem La Lógica de las Sirenas. A reflection on ancient Greek democracy(Universidad EAFIT, 2021-12-15) Vélez Upegui, Mauricio; Universidad EAFITThere are numerous cultural creations that the Greeks of Antiquity, and more specifically the Athenians, gave to themselves. One of them, related to the institution of social life, was democracy, understood in etymological terms as “power of the people.” In another sense, democracy can be described as a type of political system, or as a way of organizing the public powers of a city. Such an idea is derived from the brief Aristotelian treatise, discovered in Egypt more than a century ago, known as the Constitution of the Athenians. Relying on this treatise and establishing some relationships with other ancient and modern sources, the purpose of this writing is to advance a reflection on ancient Attic democracy, in order to point out three foundations of this form of government: political autonomy, participation, and “control.”Ítem Proceso de ASC - CIUDADES INTELIGENTES, CONTROL E INTERACTIVIDAD. ANALISIS DESDE LA CONTABILIDAD CRITICA(Universidad EAFIT, 2023) Ocampo-Salazar, Carmen Alejandra; Universidad EAFITIn the smart city, connectivity is a key factor for its development. Therefore, we focus on analyzing themes and trends in the study of control, the smart city, and the small symbolic challenges posed by cable theft that enables interactivity in Medellín, from a critical accounting perspective. Copper cable theft is costly for telecommunications companies and society. The research shows a lack of control over losses of this asset, which are estimated between 83% and 98%. Methodologically, we conducted a documentary analysis to establish the main themes. Additionally, we performed a robustness and survival study to locate the events of theft and the spatial areas where they occur. Accounting databases were consulted to identify the increase in theft and the materialization of theft risk. These events are consistent with the critique of control from an accounting perspective.
