Departamento de Ingeniería Mecánica; Mecatrónica y Diseño de MáquinasWhile teams and projects tend to be multi-domain, the infrastructure required to integrate and build prototypes lags behind to allow an efficient interaction and to offer multi-disciplinary facilities. Hence this paper presents an infrastructure approach developed in a Latin American academic context, where the concept of an Engineering Building is explained in order to support the demands of a 3rd Generation University. A deeper emphasis of this article is placed upon the development of a Technology Integration Laboratory in terms of functionality, capacity, adjacencies, furnishing and, physiologic and psicologic support. The layout design is based on the concepts of Mechatronics and Technical Systems while enhancing a teaching–learning-building process. After 5 years of operation the results obtained in terms of prototyping, filed patents and projects with the triad government-industry-academy are discussed. Our experience shows that such hands-on engineering facilities are worth having, especially within a virtual education growing trend, and that openness has influenced an increment of the Intellectual Property results. © 2015, Springer-Verlag France.Ítem Conectados: una guía práctica para crear puentes con tus estudiantes en el contexto virtual(Universidad EAFIT. The objective was to create a systematic process that facilitates the effective interpretation of these results and their integration into concrete professional and academic development actions. The study's relevance lies in the need identified by recent literature on teacher evaluation (Mendzheritskaya et al., 2024; Quansah et al., 2024) to establish clear protocols that communicate results and promote sustainable improvements in pedagogical practice. A qualitative research approach was employed, combining semi-structured interviews and a focus group. These instruments enabled the collection of valuable and detailed information from the perspectives of academic program leaders and researchers. The interviews allowed for an in-depth exploration of experiences and perceptions regarding faculty evaluations, while the focus group enriched the process with collaborative discussion of ideas and practical approaches, following the methodological recommendations of Hernández-Sampieri y Mendoza Torres (2023). The data analysis permitted the development of a protocol that promotes effective feedback, aligned with contemporary principles of feedback in higher education identified by Williams (2024). In Colombia, the growing acceptance of virtual education programs, supported by policies promoting digitalization, creates a favorable environment for its development. Universidad EAFIT, with its strong academic reputation and capabilities, can position itself as a leader in this market through the implementation of a new virtual education business unit. The project will be developed within the university's main campus, with an initial investment focused on acquiring technological infrastructure, human resources, and virtualizing selected programs. Para la construcción de dicho informe se revisaron 110 publicaciones internacionales de las que se consignan aquí las principales ideas y planteamientos que sirven como antecedente al desarrollo del proyecto de investigación anteriormente mencionado.
