Estudio de prefactibilidad para el proyecto del museo de historia natural de la Tatacoa

The objective of this research is to analyze the feasibility of continuing with the project of the Tatacoa Natural History Museum, located in Villavieja, in the department of Huila, Colombia. Based on a pre-feasibility study, market, operational, cultural, environmental, social and economic items that allow the feasibility of operating in the short, medium and long term are contemplated. This museum, which first opened in 2014, has an invaluable paleontological heritage and is a reference for research and dissemination of natural history in Colombia. However, the operation is at risk due to issues that generate gaps such as infrastructure, the reduction of visitor demand, and the difficulty of financial resources; this generates uncertainties about its viability in the long term. To address these gaps, a pre-feasibility study methodology was developed that incorporates multidimensional approaches: economic study, social and cultural impact assessment, and the identification of environmental factors that affect its operation for the deployment of a strategy to maintain the continuity of the museum in the long term.
