Ítem Un acercamiento a la reutilización en ingeniería de software(Universidad EAFIT, 1999) Anaya de Páez, Raquel; Universidad EAFITÍtem Agents as tutors in augmented reality(2003-01-01) Álvarez, N.; Trefftz, H.; Universidad EAFIT. Departamento de Ingeniería de Sistemas; I+D+I en Tecnologías de la Información y las ComunicacionesInteraction between virtual entities and human beings should be similar to the normal interaction between human beings. Verbal interaction is the usual way of interaction among humans, but the interfaces that allow verbal communication between a human being and an agent (virtual human) have a limited vocabulary, need a lot of training and are expensive. In this paper we propose an Augmented Reality System with an unidirectional interface between an agent and a person. By using gestures, animations and adequate texts the agent can show a user how to perform a simple task. We hope that the tests to be conducted will show how useful this unidirectional interface is.Ítem APPLIES: A framework for evaluAting organization's motivation and preparation for adopting product lines(IEEE Computer Society, 2018-01-01) Rincón, L.; Mazo, R.; Salinesi, C.; Universidad EAFIT. Departamento de Ingeniería de Sistemas; I+D+I en Tecnologías de la Información y las ComunicacionesIn the software industry, product Lines has emerged as an attractive approach to perform planned reuse. Nevertheless, a product line solution is not appropriate for all the cases and requires some conditions to be implemented successfully. The literature offers several contributions regarding the adoption of product lines. However, only a few of these support decision-makers for taking well-informed decisions in favor or against following this approach. This paper presents APPLIES, a framework to (i) detect signals that could motivate an organization to adopt a product line approach (ii) assess to what extent a company is prepared for supporting the practices necessary to adopt a product line. APPLIES is grounded in a thematic analysis of the literature and was preliminarily evaluated with two experts through a survey and an interview. The results of the evaluation provide us insights to create an improved version of the proposal following a design-science method. © 2018 IEEE.Ítem CME – A web application framework learning technique based on concerns, micro-learning and examples(SPRINGER, 2018-01-01) Correa, D.; Isaza, F.A.; Mazo, R.; Giraldo, G.L.; Universidad EAFIT. Departamento de Ingeniería de Sistemas; I+D+I en Tecnologías de la Información y las ComunicacionesNowadays the use of Web Application Frameworks has been the default choice to develop software applications inside the web domain. These frameworks provide many benefits such as: faster development, enhanced security, and clearer structure of code. However, web application frameworks have a high learning curve and each time someone wants to learn a framework, a recurrent question arises: How to reduce that learning curve and be able to use a new web application framework in a short time? Several learning techniques have been used in the context of frameworks; for instance, example-based learning, tutorials, cookbooks, and tools. Nevertheless, those approaches have their own limitations and the question about what is the best way to learn soon those frameworks remains open. In this paper, we introduce a new web application framework learning technique called CME (Concerns, Micro-learning and Examples). This technique defines a customized learning path that a novice developer should follow to learn to use a web application framework. The learning path was built as a mix of concerns, micro-learning and example-based learning concepts. To validate this technique, we carry out a quasi-experiment about a web application framework learning and the development of small web applications with: (i) the use of CME and (ii) the use of a cookbook. The quasi-experiment results showed preliminary evidence that when using CME, novice developers become more operational to develop small web applications in a reduced period of time compared with the use of a cookbook. © Springer International Publishing AG, part of Springer Nature 2018.Ítem Contrato de prestación de servicios jurídicos por parte de la Inteligencia Artificial en Colombia : viabilidad, caracterización y particularidades(Universidad EAFIT, 2024) Soto Mejía, José Juan; Sánchez Daniels, Catalina del PilarÍtem “DIMCUNET” Programa de cálculo para el dimensionamiento de cunetas de recolección de aguas lluvias, en vías urbanas y carreteras(Universidad EAFIT, 2021) Ramos Rivera, Dina Marcela; Marbello Pérez, Ramiro VicenteThe National Roads Institute (INVIAS, for its acronym in Spanish) presented the Road drainage manual, document used as a guide for the design of hydraulic structures related to road infrastructure. It presents and recommends for Colombia the design for ditches with the triangular geometric section for being the most practical, simple to build and for which you need less area. The manual also presents other geometric sections, but without the corresponding design equations for each type of ditch, leaving the sizing of these structures at the discretion of the designers. Some professionals and consulting firms commonly use spreadsheets to perform these calculations. This implies significant work for the use to understand, establish the validity of each programmed cell, verify the relevance and applicability of these calculations, with the motivation of preventing these applications from becoming black box models. Not to mention that aspects such as hypotheses, limitations, restrictions are not appreciable in this type of document. For this reason, it is necessary to implement a software that allows to optimize time and at the same time an application that has the design equations for different forms of cross sections of ditches.Ítem Diseño de modelo 360 para determinación de precios en proyectos de empresas de consultoría de software especializado(Universidad EAFIT, 2022) Wartski Botero, Valeria; Villegas López, Yamile; Orozco Echeverry, César AugustoÍtem Diseño del plan exportador para la empresa SAI de la Universidad EAFIT(Universidad EAFIT, 2020) Carmona Tobón, Daniel; Ríos Molina, Carolina; Giraldo Hernández; Gina MaríaAccording to a study performed by Procolombia and the Ministry of Information Technology and Communications (2019), Colombia positioned itself as the fourth largest IT market in Latin America, and between 2010 and 2017 it doubled its software and IT sales. This analysis has identified software’s export opportunities in agribusiness, education, energy, financial, retail, health and transportation, to several destinations. Motivated by these conditions, SAI, a company created inside the EAFIT University, has decided to promote the sale of its software in the international market, since this is a complete information system that allows the proper management of various processes in higher education organizations. With that being said, the design of the export plan is presented below as a consultancy process, applying the established methodology of diagnosis, the preselection and application of variables in four external markets, the analysis of software as a service in the selected country, and finally, the action plan, in order to facilitate to the company the successful access to the global market.Ítem How Useful and Understandable is the APPLIES Framework? A Preliminary Evaluation with Software Practitioners(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2018-01-01) Rincón, L.; Chavarriaga, J.; Mazo, R.; Salinesi, C.; Universidad EAFIT. Departamento de Ingeniería de Sistemas; I+D+I en Tecnologías de la Información y las ComunicacionesAlthough engineering software product lines have proven to be an efficient way to develop similar products with high quality and increased time-to-market, companies must determine if they are willing to do the business and technical changes that this strategy requires. To support decision making, we are proposing APPLIES, a framework for evaluating the motivation and preparation for adopting product lines in an organization. We reviewed drivers, success factors and barriers described in the literature and proposed a comprehensive framework where these aspects can be prioritized and inter-related by diverse stakeholders in a company. Decision makers can use the resulting information to advise or not the implementation of product lines. This paper reports an initial evaluation of our proposal: a quasi-experiment where a group of 14 practitioners discussed motivators and barriers for adopting product lines, applied the framework and answered a set of questions about it. Our results show that reviewing the proposed factors contribute to evaluate if product line engineering could be adopted. However, we noted some problems with the used descriptions and visualizations that we must tackle to improve the framework and prepare further evaluations. This paper presents lessons learned in the process and gives some advice to researchers proposing similar techniques. © 2018 IEEE.Ítem Líneas de acción futuras de una empresa prestadora de servicios en seguridad y salud en el trabajo : escenario 2025 en Colombia(Universidad EAFIT, 2020) Ossa Vega, Juan Alberto; López Gallego, FranciscoPsicotec In is a company dedicated to the provision of services and consulting in Occupational Safety and Health; It is part of the 1,500,000 micro, small and medium-sized companies in Colombia. Most of the SMEs have the same problems, short-term vision, low investment level, low projection, a market with high tax rates, lack of demand and high competition. The objective of the investigation is to know the lines of action that Psicotec In must follow for the 2025 scenario, in such a way that it allows it to differentiate itself from the competition, grow in the market and have sustainability. The Delphi methodology will be used, it will serve as a predictive model of a possible 5-year trend on how the evolution of Psicotec In could be managed, its transformation and positioning that supports the design of strategies in a combination of market experience, vision of new services and implementation of technological tools. A panel of 7 experts was selected, comprising company personnel and external persons with extensive knowledge in the industry that is being targeted, to carry out the consultation in 2 phases. Departamento de Ingeniería de Sistemas; I+D+I en Tecnologías de la Información y las ComunicacionesDifferent strategies for performing string lookups have been developed and deployed during the evolutionary scientific process. These are the results of both the development of technology and the need for improvement of previously existing solutions. Hence, the string lookup problem has been well studied and the respectful amount of good solutions is present. Due to nature of the problem, most of the solutions are software based. Nevertheless, in the modern computing environments, in which the amount of data to be searched trough is increasingly growing, the problem re-arises demanding for the different type of approaches that could target multi-gigabit throughput rates so as to perform close to real-time string lookups. In that light, this paper studies the potential of migrating, a well-known and widely used, Boyer-Moore string lookup algorithm to a hardware specific device capable of satisfying the demanded throughput, by proposing and characterising the initial implementation option on a reconfigurable platform. Departamento de Ciencias Básicas; Óptica AplicadaWe present a robust, dense, and accurate Shack-Hartmann spot dislocation map determination method based on a regularized optical flow algorithm that does not require obtaining the spot centroids. The method is capable to measure in presence of strong noise, background illumination and spot modulating signals, which are typical limiting factors of traditional centroid detection algorithms. Moreover, the proposed approach is able to face cases where some of the reference beam spots have not a corresponding one in the distorted Hartmann diagram, and it can expand the dynamic range of the Shack-Hartmann sensor unwrapping the obtained dense dislocation maps. We have tested the algorithm with both simulations and experimental data obtaining satisfactory results. Departamento de Ingeniería de Sistemas; I+D+I en Tecnologías de la Información y las ComunicacionesThe development of big data & analytics projects with the participation of several corporate divisions and research groups within and among organizations is a non-trivial problem and requires well-defined roles and processes. Since there is no accepted standard for the implementation of big data & analytics projects, project managers have to either adapt an existing data mining process methodology or create a new one. This work presents a use case for a big data & analytics project for the banking sector. The authors found out that an adaptation of ASUM-DM, a refined CRISP-DM, with the addition of big data analysis, application prototyping, and prototype evaluation, plus a strong project management work with an emphasis in communications proved the best solution to develop a cross-disciplinary, multi-organization, geographically-distributed big data & analytics project. © 2018, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.Ítem What You Define, Is What You Need: Defining Agile/Traditional Mixed Methodologies(2017-10-12) Andres Felipe; RINCÓN, RAFAEL DAVID; Universidad EAFIT. Departamento de Ingeniería de Sistemas; I+D+I en Tecnologías de la Información y las ComunicacionesDefining software development methodologies may jointly include traditional and agile frameworks practices. Agile frameworks give teamwork structure and dynamics which are focused on delivering value in an incremental way. Traditional frameworks establish clarity in work products and project phases along all its lifecycle. The combination of frameworks can help to apply best practices of different models, but increasing the complexity in the methodology definition when having to start from contexts of a different nature. You will see in this article a carried out study that confirms the use of agile/traditional mixed methodologies in the industry, the difficulties that emerged and that are still seen in this approach, and the creation, setting and analysis of a guide that helps to uncomplex the definition of mixed methodologies. © Springer International Publishing AG 2018.
