(García-Rodríguez, 2017) The reasons why the purchase of health service provider entities by large international companies (Quirónsalud, Lenus Capital Partners, Patria Investments, Fresenius Medical Care, Steward Health Care and Auna) have increased allow us to identify the potential economic impact of the capital investment, the revitalization of the economy and expansion of the labor supply in the sector, likewise, a very significant social impact is evident with the opening of new health services, generating greater accessibility and opportunity to subspecialties that previously did not exist in the different territories. In this context, the objective of this literature review article is to explore the growth of Foreign Direct Investments in the Colombian Social Security System. The methodology used to prepare this article was fundamentally based on a review of fifty documents, which are classified into academic, technical and opinion literature. The results of the article reveal that Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the General Health Social Security System in Colombia allowed the expansion of health services in the country, validating this in the acquisition by investors of advanced medical equipment. , implementation of innovative technologies, training and high technical levels of health personnel, directly impacting patient-centered care.Ítem El médico tratante y el acto médico: autonomía dentro del Sistema General de Seguridad Social en Salud(Universidad EAFIT, 2011) Salazar Lopera, Carlos Hernán; Zapata Pérez, Ana María
