Precarización laboral y sentido de la universidad : una fenomenología-hermenéutica del profesor universitario
(Universidad EAFIT, 2026-02-09) Uribe-Piedrahita, Jorge Stiven; Jurado Jurado, Juan Carlos; Duarte Duarte, Jakeline
The objective of this research was to interpret the lived experiences and the meanings constructed by university professors undergoing labor precarization at a private Colombian university, in relation to their academic work and to the university as an organization. The study was conducted within a qualitative framework grounded in phenomenological-hermeneutic inquiry, drawing upon conversational phenomenological interviews, embodied phenomenological observation, and the reflective writing of phenomenological protocols. The theoretical-conceptual foundations integrated the interpretive conception of action, the anthropology of experience, narration as event, and the notion of Erlebnis, rearticulated as lived experience, thereby enabling an understanding of academic work as a mode of inhabiting the world in its existential immediacy. The research was situated within Organizational Studies, understood as a plural field that conceives organizations as social constructions and horizons of meaning. The findings disclosed that labor precarization constitutes a situated lived experience traversing both economic and existential dimensions. Distinct modes of inhabiting the university emerged, characterized by a fatigued corporeality, a relationality of care, a precarious spatiality, a tensioned temporality, an existentiality in search of meaning, a materiality shaped by scarcity, and technology as an ambivalent mediation. The central contribution advances a shift from the functional subject to the lived subject, restoring the professor as an embodied existence and as the ethical, epistemic, and political ground of the university.
