Paisajes de agua. Estrategias para la transformación de paisajes sensibles al ciclo del agua en la quebrada Los Aguacates en el municipio de Copacabana

This research explores the transformation of water landscapes in the Los Aguacates watershed in Copacabana, Antioquia, through an interdisciplinary approach that integrates art, science, and design. A methodology based on Participatory Action Research (PAR) is proposed to analyze community interactions with the water cycle, considering technical, social, and symbolic dimensions. Through a comprehensive diagnosis—combining hydrological data, geospatial analysis, experimental audiovisual documentation, and community perceptions—the main impacts of metropolitan growth on the watershed were identified, highlighting vegetation loss, water pollution, and cultural disconnection from water bodies. In response, Paisajes de Agua (Water Landscapes) was designed as an experimental co-creation strategy adapted to the territory, integrating art, science, and design to bridge the gap between technical and local knowledge, strengthening water sustainability. The results demonstrate that the integration of scientific and community knowledge, along with visual and spatial tools, fosters water landscape stewardship and regeneration practices, promoting participatory governance. It is concluded that the Paisajes de Agua collaboratory model can be applied to other watersheds facing similar challenges, offering a replicable framework for sustainable water management in transforming urban and rural contexts.
