Ítem Gunshot identification system by integration of open source consumer electronics(SPIE-INT SOC OPTICAL ENGINEERING, 2014-01-01) López R., J.M.; Marulanda B., J.I.; López R., J.M.; Marulanda B., J.I.; Universidad EAFIT. Departamento de Ciencias; Electromagnetismo Aplicado (Gema)This work presents a prototype of low-cost gunshots identification system that uses consumer electronics in order to ensure the existence of gunshots and then classify it according to a previously established database. The implementation of this tool in the urban areas is to set records that support the forensics, hence improving law enforcement also on developing countries. An analysis of its effectiveness is presented in comparison with theoretical results obtained with numerical simulations. © 2014 SPIE.Ítem Gunshot identification system by integration of open source consumer electronics(SPIE-INT SOC OPTICAL ENGINEERING, 2014-01-01) López R., J.M.; Marulanda B., J.I.; Universidad EAFIT. Departamento de Ingeniería Mecánica; Mecánica AplicadaOn February 11, 2000, the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) was launched into space as part of one of the pay load of the Shuttle Endeavor. Using a new radar sweeping technique most of the Earth's surfaces was digitized in 3D in approximately 10 days. SRTM acquired enough data during its mission to obtain a near-global high-resolution database of the Earth's topography. This paper describe how this revolutionary data set can be used to simulate anywhere around the Earth low altitude wind conditions for various atmospheric conditions. More specifically, we will describe the various processing steps necessary to convert this high-resolution terrain model provided by the SRTM database into a Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) volumetric mesh that is compatible with an open source CFD solver called OpenFOAM running in parallel on large West-Grid supercomputers. This work is the result of a new virtual wind-tunnel under development at the University of Alberta. In the paper, we present wind flow over the MountSaint Helens in the United States for a simple wind flow boundary condition. © 2006 IEEE.Ítem mantisGRID: a grid platform for DICOM medical images management in Colombia and Latin America.(SPRINGER, 2011-04-01) Garcia Ruiz M; García, A.; Ruiz Ibañez C; Gutierrez Mazo JM; Ramirez Giraldo JC; Pelaez Echavarria A; Valencia Diaz E; Pelaez Restrepo G; Montoya Munera EN; Garcia Loaiza B; Gomez Gonzalez S; Garcia Ruiz M; García, A.; Ruiz Ibañez C; Gutierrez Mazo JM; Ramirez Giraldo JC; Pelaez Echavarria A; Valencia Diaz E; Pelaez Restrepo G; Montoya Munera EN; Garcia Loaiza B; Gomez Gonzalez S; Universidad EAFIT. Departamento de Ingeniería de Sistemas; I+D+I en Tecnologías de la Información y las ComunicacionesThis paper presents the mantisGRID project, an interinstitutional initiative from Colombian medical and academic centers aiming to provide medical grid services for Colombia and Latin America. The mantisGRID is a GRID platform, based on open source grid infrastructure that provides the necessary services to access and exchange medical images and associated information following digital imaging and communications in medicine (DICOM) and health level 7 standards. The paper focuses first on the data abstraction architecture, which is achieved via Open Grid Services Architecture Data Access and Integration (OGSA-DAI) services and supported by the Globus Toolkit. The grid currently uses a 30-Mb bandwidth of the Colombian High Technology Academic Network, RENATA, connected to Internet 2. It also includes a discussion on the relational database created to handle the DICOM objects that were represented using Extensible Markup Language Schema documents, as well as other features implemented such as data security, user authentication, and patient confidentiality. Grid performance was tested using the three current operative nodes and the results demonstrated comparable query times between the mantisGRID (OGSA-DAI) and Distributed mySQL databases, especially for a large number of records.Ítem mantisGRID: a grid platform for DICOM medical images management in Colombia and Latin America.(SPRINGER, 2011-04-01) Garcia Ruiz M; García, A.; Ruiz Ibañez C; Gutierrez Mazo JM; Ramirez Giraldo JC; Pelaez Echavarria A; Valencia Diaz E; Pelaez Restrepo G; Montoya Munera EN; Garcia Loaiza B; Gomez Gonzalez S; Universidad EAFIT.
