Ítem Design and implementation of a low-cost projected virtual reality system to support learning processes(Springer Verlag, 2011-01-01) Gómez, R.; Trefftz, H.; Universidad EAFIT. Departamento de Ingeniería de Sistemas; I+D+I en Tecnologías de la Información y las ComunicacionesVirtual Reality technologies have been successfully incorporated into the learning processes and potential new applications in education are explored continuously. We found that one of the difficulties to popularize its use in the educational context, in countries with emerging and developing economies, is the cost of hardware required to generate satisfactory immersive experience. In this work we considered virtual reality from the perspective of human-computer interaction to support learning processes. The characteristics of low-cost projected virtual reality system (PVR) proposed, combines study and integration of available technology solutions, the development of an image synchronization routine that enables the use of a single video projector and the design of a printable pattern that preserve the state of polarization on the projection screen. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.Ítem Multiobjective model for multicast overlay networks over IP/MPLS using MOEA(2008-01-01) Montoya, J.; Donoso, Y.; Montoya, E.; Echeverri, D.; Universidad EAFIT. Departamento de Ingeniería de Sistemas; I+D+I en Tecnologías de la Información y las ComunicacionesMulticast plays an important role in supporting a new generation of applications. At present and for different reasons, technical and non-technical, multicast IP hasn't yet been totally adopted for Internet. During recent years, an active area of research is that of implementing this kind of traffic in the application layer where the multicast functionality isnt a responsibility of the routers but that of the hosts, which we know as Multicast Overlay Networks (MON). In this article, routing in an MON is put forward as a multiobjective optimization problem (MOP) where two functions are optimized: 1) the total end to end delay of the multicast tree and 2) the maximum link utilization. The simultaneous optimization of these two functions is an NP-Complete problem and to solve this we suggest using Multiobjective Evolutionary Algorithms (MOEA), specifically NSGA-II.Ítem Phylogenetic relationships of Chacodelphys (Marsupialia: Didelphidae: Didelphinae) based on “ancient” DNA sequences(Oxford University Press, 2016-03-01) Díaz-Nieto, J.F.; Voss, Robert S; Jansa, Sharon A; Universidad EAFIT. Departamento de Ciencias; Biodiversidad, Evolución y ConservaciónMorphological character data are inadequate to resolve the evolutionary relationships of the didelphid genus Chacodelphys, which previous phylogenetic analyses have alternatively suggested might be the sister taxon of Lestodelphys and Thylamys
