Ítem Knowledge Management in the Age of Unreliable Messages. Do University Students Trust Online Messages? (A Survey from the Middle East)(Universidad EAFIT, 2021-11-28) Sabbar Shaho; Abdollahinezhad, Alireza; Heidari, Ako; Mohammadi, Fatemeh; Universidad de Teherán en Teherán, Irán; Universidad Allameh Tabataba'i; Universidad George Mason; Universidad Allameh Tabataba'iWe are exposed to a constant stream of messages many of which originate from unreliable or untrustworthy sources. Moreover, it is not possible to control the messages before they are published and allow the dissemination of the verified ones only. Growing a critical mind can be a practical way to prevent the accumulation of incorrect or inaccurate information in our brains. The current study tried to see whether or not university students hold a critical view of social media messages. First, in a qualitative study, hundreds of messages shared on social media were observed, 12 of which were chosen based on the popularity of their central themes. Many of the messages contained an extraordinary claim such as the existence of mermaids, human-like complex emotions in animals, etc. Then, in a survey, the chosen messages were shown to 379 university students. The respondents were asked to express their opinions about the messages. For each of the 12 messages, between 36 to 94 percent of the respondents just assumed the messages to be true. The analysis of the responses revealed weak critical thinking among the students.Ítem Modelos para el diseño de experiencias transmedia en entornos educativos : exploraciones en torno a The Walking Dead, La Odisea y Tom Sawyer(2017) Montoya Bermúdez, Diego; Vásquez Arias, Mauricio; dmonto36@eafit.edu.co; mvasqu23@eafit.edu.coThis text presents two models for the design of transmedial experiences applicable from the context of the communication to pedagogical scenarios. Using research as a method through design, two transmediation practices are systematized: one of a narrative nature in formal educational contexts, and the other experiential for informal pedagogical environments; both exercises with common goals: to encourage reading and writing in different audiences, and to promote transmedia practices as dynamizers of media literacy processes, in an idea to put the media on the side of education. These proposals made it possible to demonstrate, both from the intertextual systems and from the intermediary systems, the potentialities of transmediality as an articulator vector of creation and experimentation processes. Finally, as a contribution, the text focuses on the elaboration of a methodological proposal for the transmedia design of experiences through which intermediality is considered as a broader view towards transmediation.Ítem Models for the design of transmedia experiences in educational environments.
