Ítem Afectaciones en la salud mental de cuidadores familiares y no familiares de personas con enfermedad terminal en la ciudad de Medellín (Colombia)(Universidad EAFIT, 2023) Castrillón Jaramillo, María José; Cuartas Arias, Jorge MauricioObjective: To analyze the effects on the mental health of family and non-family caregivers of patients with terminal illness in the city of Medellín (Colombia). Conceptual References. The concepts of mental health, terminal illness, palliative care, grief, overload, caregivers and family members are described. Method. Mixed study whose instruments are a semi-structured interview and a survey applied to 30 family and non-family caregivers of people with terminal illness. Results. Research findings highlight that factors such as fear, uncertainty, helplessness, guilt and exhaustion have a significant impact on the mental health of caregivers. Furthermore, the Zarit Caregiver Overload Scale revealed that the dimensions most affected in the participants are overload in the relationship with the person who suffers from a terminal illness, emotional well-being, social and family life, and loss of control over life itself. It is interesting to note that, despite the differences in the bond and experience between family and non-family caregivers, it does not seem to be a determining factor in measuring the level of overload in each group. Finally, it is highlighted that, in the context of palliative care, ignorance and lack of interest in seeking a support network when facing a loss persist. This underlines the need to raise awareness about the importance of seeking support in palliative care and bereavement situations.Ítem Análisis de la política pública de cooperación internacional de Medellín.(Rafael Grasa, 2014-02-01) Vargas-Alzate, L.F.El presente artículo expone la relación entre el ámbito académico de elaboración de una política pública con las realidades explícitas en el proceso de llevarla hasta la etapa de inserción en la agenda política formal. Responsible consumption movements and the factors that contribute to the formation of pro-environmental behaviors have emerged in the Global North. Few studies have advanced in identifying the factors that aff ect the appropriation of pro-environmental practices in the Global South, specifically in cities of countries with emerging economies and fast urbanization. Through semi-structured interviews and non-participant observation conducted with 34 families from diff erent socioeconomic categories in Medellin, Colombia, we addressed the following questions: Do environmental concerns influence consumption and waste practices? What factors aff ect the appropriation of environmental practices? Although diff erent factors limit responsible consumption, the results of this study show that pro-environmental practices related to consumption and waste contribute to the formation of pro-environment citizenships. © Regions & Cohesion.Ítem Contributions of musical education to people with disabilities in the promotion of self-determination(Universidad EAFIT, 2020-06-24) Pérez Valderrama, Mónica; Corporación Universitaria AdventistaThe present article is based on the research work Música para ver: Sistematización de la experiencia (Music to see: Systematization of experience); a qualitative research, which approached the music education program Música para ver intended to unveil the subjective transformations of the participants in the city of Medellin between 2014-2016, to recognize the scope of the program and to strengthen its strategies.
