    The Vienna Convention on the International Sale of Goods of 1980 (hereinafter "CISG") emerged as an instrument for the unification of international trade law, integrating principles of common law and civil law. In Colombia, the Convention was approved by Law 518 of 1999 and ratified in 2001, entering into force on August 1, 2002. Its main objective is to facilitate international trade through uniform rules, avoiding recourse to the domestic law of each country. One of the key concepts in the CISG is the "place of business" of the parties, which is relevant to determining its application in international contracts. If a party has more than one establishment, the one with the closest relationship to the contract will be taken into account. This article will analyze how different courts have interpreted the concept of place of business, emphasizing that it should be understood as a stable and independent place of economic activity. Cases in which the term "place of business" has been applied will be examined to determine whether the CISG applies. Additionally, the Colombian legal system's rules that must be taken into account to harmonize the concept of place of business in the CISG and how it should be understood in Colombia are set forth.
