Publicación Estudio de prefactibilidad para la implementación de la unidad de transformación de miel convencional a miel cremada para la empresa Apika Prokampo en el municipio de Livingston, departamento de Izabal, Guatemala(Universidad EAFIT, 2025-11-06) Salazar Cardona, Dulce Gabriela; Gómez Salazar, Elkin ArcesioThis prefeasibility study examines the technical, commercial, environmental, and financial viability of producing and marketing creamed honey as an innovation within the beekeeping sector of the municipality of Livingston, Izabal, located in the northeastern region of Guatemala. Honey holds significant national value due to its nutritional and medicinal properties; however, the beekeeping production chain has long been characterized by traditional extraction and marketing methods, which limit its competitiveness and ability to generate added value. Creamed honey emerges as an innovative alternative that enhances both the texture and presentation of the product, facilitates its consumption, and expands market opportunities. This study comprehensively addresses market, technical, administrative, legal, environmental, and financial aspects, concluding that the project is viable from technical, economic, and environmental perspectives. The financial results show a Net Present Value (NPV) of Q 1,389,343.34, an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 145%, and a Benefit-Cost Ratio (BCR) of 2.32; these indicators reflect high profitability and a rapid recovery of the investment. Furthermore, the environmental and social analysis demonstrates that this initiative aligns with ecological sustainability, promotes the responsible use of natural resources, and contributes to the conservation of pollinators. Overall, the project represents a concrete opportunity to strengthen the local beekeeping value chain, increase producers’ income, foster agro-industrial innovation, and promote sustainable economic development in the region.
