The large amount of information that can be monitored in these systems can represent a problem for a good operation in terms of control, computational cost and time. For this reason, it is necessary to make a selection of variables that allows to decrease the data-set’s size without compromising the quality of information, needed for a proper information management system. There are several methods for prioritizing variables, such as the Function to Data Matrix (FDM). This method takes into account the functional analysis of the system, as well as the operative states and their relationship with the basic functions and variables. This enables to obtain a Variable Relevance Indicator (VRI) to define which variables have a higher importance under a particular perspective based on the main function of a system. This article presents the process of analyzing a photovoltaic charging station through the FDM method in order to define the most relevant information to be deployed in a future remote monitoring system. © 2018 Institution of Engineering and Technology. Departamento de Ingeniería de Sistemas; I+D+I en Tecnologías de la Información y las ComunicacionesAdvances in technology and an increase in the amount and complexity of data that are generated in healthcare have led to an indispensable revolution in this sector related to big data. Analytics of information based on multimodal clinical data sources requires big data projects. When starting big data projects in the healthcare sector, it is often necessary to assess the maturity of an organization with respect to big data, i.e., its capacity in managing big data. The assessment of the maturity of an organization requires multicriteria decision making as there is no single criterion or dimension that defines the maturity level regarding big data but an entire set of them. Based on the ISO 15504, this article proposes a fuzzy ELECTRE structure methodology to assess the maturity level of small- and medium-sized enterprises in the healthcare sector. The obtained experimental results provide evidence that this methodology helps to determine and compare maturity levels in big data management of organizations or the evolution of maturity over time. This is also useful in terms of diagnosing the readiness of an organization before starting to implement big data initiatives or technologies. A knowledge management approach through product lifecycle management implementation: An industrial case study(Springer Verlag, 2013-01-01) Mejía-Gutiérrez, R.; Marroquín, C.; Giraldo-Gomez, J.D.During new product development, knowledge must be exchanged across organizational, geographical, cultural, and language barriers [1]. Emerging technologies such as Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) combined with Business Process Modelling (BPM) tools provide means to enable collaboration among distributed participants specifically in the product design process. In this paper, an alternative approach for planning and development of projects that requires knowledge management and information integration in small and medium enterprises, is presented. A case study in the Architecture Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry is performed and, as a result, the methodology is applied to support the design and construction of waste treatment plants. Finally, the design of the proposed approach is presented including how engineering processes were identified, analyzed and improved through BPM and PLM. © IFIP International Federation for Information Processing 2013.Ítem Meteorological Risk Early Warning System for Air Operations(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2019-01-01) Florez Zuluaga J.A.; David Ortega Pabon J.; Vargas Bonilla J.F.; Quintero Montova O.L.; Florez Zuluaga J.A.; David Ortega Pabon J.; Vargas Bonilla J.F.; Quintero Montova O.L.; Universidad EAFIT. Departamento de Ciencias; Modelado MatemáticoToday, airspace control has the challenge of merging information from independent and heterogeneous systems in order to minimize air safety risks and facilitate the decision-making process. One of the main risks for air operations is meteorology because convective formations like Torre cumulus or cumulonimbus could generate several dangerous phenomena such as icing, wind gusts, and thunderstorms, among others, that can affect the air operation safety. Based on previous works that allow the automatic identification of convective phenomena through the fusion of multispectral satellite images and other sources as winds and Meteorological Aerodrome Report (METAR), and establishing a common georeferenced coordinates system like WGS-84, for all sources, it can generate a system that could calculate early alerts about hazardous weather conditions in the aircrafts proximality for air traffic control system. For this, a meteorological analysis system can generate information about convective clouds calculating area, heights, temperatures, risk level and position of the meteorological formation. Parallelly the convective cloud is surrounded by optimal elliptical forms centered on the convective formation, generating a meteorological object. On the other hand, there is a system responsible for monitoring the information of the surveillance sensors. This system fused the air traffic sensors available like primary and secondary radar signals and ADS-B sensors in a unique WGS-84 coordinates system. Finally, in a georeferenced raster-Type graphing system or in a Geographic Information System (GIS), the meteorological and surveillance information is correlated projecting the track routes generates by air traffic system and traces generated by meteorological objects in order to establish times and high-risk areas, early. With this information, the Air Traffic Controller (ATC) system users, could minimize risk areas and reorganize the air traffic flow. This methodology then, would contribute to the decision-making process of ATC, facilitating the air flow reorganization and minimizing meteorological risks. For the development of this project a cooperative experimental methodology by subsystems was used. It was based on an operational knowledge and normal operating procedures of the Colombian Air Force, integrated with radar tracking technologies that implement decision trees. These alerts allow the air traffic controller to assess the risk and in accordance with the evaluation, if necessary, reorganize the air traffic flow for a specific area before the aircraft enter areas of bad weather mitigating the risks. © 2019 IEEE.Ítem Los modernos alquimistas : epistemología corporativa y gestión del conocimiento(Fondo Editorial Universidad EAFIT, 2004) Parra Mesa, Iván Darío; Giraldo Y., AlinaÍtem Multi-layer Graph Theory Utilisation for Improving Traceability and Knowledge Management in Early Design Stages(Elsevier, 2017-01-01) Ríos-Zapata, D.; Pailhès, J.; Mejía-Gutiérrez, R.Decision making processes in design often challenges designers to prioritise specifications and variables in order to develop solutions that are closer to the product's requirement goals. Concerning to support their decisions, different tools and methods are used by engineers and designers allowing to reduce uncertainty in design. Nevertheless, many of these decision support systems are focused in late design stages, such as detailed design and manufacturing design, even if the possibility to influence a new product is higher in early stages. The issues regarding to those situations are often associated to design processes related to multi-physics design, where the modification of geometric-related variables might affect the performance of the solution, and the analysis of tracking the influence of the modifications might generate reprocessing and loses of time, specially when those relations are tricky and are not easily identifiable by analysing equations and a manual analysis of requirements must be performed. This article is centred in proposing a traceability model for early design stages based in graph theory. The proposal supports the information generated in design, from the input requirements (linguistic field) up to mathematical modelling and variables definition (real numbers field). This information is arranged into different layers, allowing a multilevel approach in terms of information management. The model also features a novel solution for weighting vertex in graph model, featuring a model that balances the direction of improvement, the importance and flexibility of any specification and how its behaviour will affect the design variables associated to it. The goal of the proposed model is to offer to designers, since the conceptual design stage, a method that can show automatically the level of correlation between any pair variables and specifications by the use of information trees and featuring chains that can connect them whether there is or not a connection via equations. © 2017 The Authors.Ítem Parámetros para la normalización de documentos y registros electrónicos en la Fiscalía General de la Nación colombiana(Universidad EAFIT, 2021) Domínguez Sabogal, Andrés Mauricio; Uribe de Correa, Beatriz AmparoÍtem Sistematización y socialización de experiencias innovadoras(2018) Mejía G., Ana Isabel; Leal F., Diego Ernesto; amejia3@eafit.edu.coThe development of good practice called circulation of information and knowledge within the framework of the TESO Digital Plan of the municipality of Itagüí, Antioquia, understands the need to connect the different audiences to which the project is directed so that, under an integrating perspective, it can make visible the digital transformation experience of educational institutions, the advances and results achieved; besides promoting the active participation of all the actors that are part of the intervention.
