Ítem Evaluation of two strategies NMPC into HIL applied to the operation of an internal combustion engine(Springer-Verlag France, 2018-02-01) Chica, J.A.V.; Torres, A.G.D.; Chica, J.A.V.; Torres, A.G.D.; Universidad EAFIT. Departamento de Ingeniería de Producción; Ingeniería, Energía, Exergía y Sostenibilidad (IEXS)The hardware in the loop (HIL) platforms constitute an accelerated engineering design medium that subsequently reduces the risk of failure in the implementation process. This fact is enhanced when the designer is faced with extremely complex tasks and when design errors can lead to destructive and costly testing. The design of complex algorithms such as non-linear controllers applied to electronic control units of combustion engines, is a task of higher complexity level, and tests with incorrectly adjusted drivers can result in engine breakdown. This document reports the performance and effectiveness of a two-HIL scheme as an interactive design platform used for the design of electronic control units ECU, for internal combustion engines. The implementation and adjustment of two NMPC strategies aimed at optimizing the operation of the engine from three fronts: energetic, economic and environmental, involving independent and simultaneous objectives, give an account of the usefulness of the interactive design scheme. © 2017, Springer-Verlag France.Ítem Mediación del uso de tecnologías de información en una organización de salud colombiana(Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Valparaiso, 2018-01-01) Quiroz J.T.; Vélez S.A.C.; Caballero J.M.H.; Cardona S.A.L.; Universidad EAFIT. Departamento de Ingeniería de Diseño; Ingeniería de Diseño (GRID)This work aims to analyze the implementation process of health information technologies, in a private health organization in the city of Medellín. Using electronic health records, the study emphasized the social mediation process that takes place between the different actors to appropriate and adapt the technology implemented to the organization needs. For this purpose, a qualitative case study was carried out to include the view of technological managers, facilitators and technology users involved in the implementation process. Results indicated that the social mediation process of technology (SMT) use involves considering the actor’s role, their relationships, their practices and the senses that they build around the characteristics and purposes of the technology. It is concluded that social mediation can be a concept that contributes to the practice of technological management by analyzing social relations and emerging organizational processes of change. © 2018 Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Valparaiso. Departamento de Ingeniería Mecánica; Estudios en Mantenimiento (GEMI)Previous studies about the implementation of Total Productivity Management (TPM) in Colombia have shown that this philosophy makes a competitive company stand out internationally, and even makes the difference between survival and death for many of them. Several years after these findings, it is necessary to verify if TPM is still having a leading role, or if it has been discarded or replaced by other strategies or techniques. This article shows the main findings and up-to-date case studies about the implementation of Total Productivity Management in Colombia, which were found in research projects at Universidad EAFIT from 2003 until today. The questions addressed in this paper are: Was TPM established in Colombian companies as a current administration and management trend? What are the main obstacles in the implementation of TPM? Which strategies are followed to overcome these obstacles?
