Ítem Nowcasting de la economía colombiana a través de indicadores de expectativas y opiniones de los agentes económicos(Universidad EAFIT, 2021) Gómez Montoya, Sara; Botero García, Jesús AlonsoThis research project was intended to estimate the performance of the Colombian economy reflected through the ISE (Indicator of Monitoring of the Economy) from conventional and unconventional indicators of expectations of economic agents through the Nowcasting model, which uses a set of high-frequency, standardized and stationary indicators to forecast the monthly ISE in Colombia and the quarterly GDP with the average of the 3 estimated ISE values. This was achieved through the machine learning approach and dynamic factor models. The main purpose of this project was to answer the question of "How explanatory and useful are the confidence indicators and expectations of economic agents for predicting economic growth?" This question was answered through dynamic correlations, which showed procyclical, advanced, contemporary and lagged movements of the variables.Ítem Variación de las derivas en edificaciones por efectos dinámicos de interacción suelo-estructura(2018) Bello Mena, Kevin Jushep; Botero Palacio, Juan CarlosThe interaction soil-structure effects (ISS) produce variations in dynamics behavior on structures, those variations are product of soil’s flexibility. A conventional procedure ISS has been made, and it was obtained that when the vibration period increases the seismic forces decrease; and hence, the drift generated by those forces. Nevertheless, the lateral displacement increases because the rotation in the structure base, generating displacements of rigid body, those displacements do not produce damage in structural members. In this way, the drift will increase if in the calculation of those is include the rigid body displacement, and the drifts will decrease if this rigid body displacement is not including in de calculation of the drifts. In addition, it was founded that the basal shear decreases up to a 60% by ISS effects. It was also found that the maximum decrease in the drifts because the ISS effects is 81.52%.
