Publicación Actualización del estudio de prefactibilidad del proyecto parque de diversiones en Santa Fe de Antioquia(Universidad EAFIT, 2024) Rodríguez Betancur, María Verónica; Zapata Rodríguez, Marcelo; Escorcia Marín, Jorge Junior; Gómez Salazar, Elkin ArcesioPublicación Afrontamiento de la predisposición negativa ante la implementación de los sistemas de gestión de riesgos : la percepción de expertos(Universidad EAFIT, 2019) García Salazar, Eliana Maria; Gómez Castiblanco, Dora Luz; Gallego López, FranciscoThe objective of this study is to know, according to the qualified judgment of experts in risk management (senior management and consultants), the most effective ways of coping to counteract the negative predisposition to the implementation of Risk Management Systems (RMS) in large companies. The methodology used is qualitative and exploratory in scope. At the beginning, twenty risk managers of large companies are chosen to learn, based on their experience, the reasons why their institutions do not adopt RMS. In the second stage, ten senior managers and consultants are selected in order to investigate the most effective coping strategies that, in their opinion, have been implemented. In the end, it is found that the reasons most invoked by the managers and consultants interviewed are the following: lack of commitment of the board and senior management, difficulties in communication, resistance to change, perception of lack of value generation, lack of risk management culture and inadequate definition of a process structure in companies. Finally, the ways of coping that have been applied in large companies to implement RMS are described.Publicación Análisis de riesgos materializados en la construcción del hotel Boutique Cinco Quintas(Universidad EAFIT, 2025) Cuesta Marulanda, Claudia Patricia; Meza Velásquez, Juan Carlos; Guerrero Latorre, Jorge HarleyThis research analyzes the materialized risks during the construction of the Cinco Quintas Boutique Hotel in the Historic Center of Cartagena, Colombia, aiming to improve risk management in similar real estate projects. Through a mixed methodology combining semi-structured interviews with Montecarlo simulation, sixteen materialized risks were identified and evaluated. Qualitative analysis revealed that the most critical risks were changes in structural plans, groundwater level issues, conditions of old walls, and increased costs due to the pandemic. Quantitative analysis demonstrated a significant relationship between time and cost deviations, with critical activities such as special installations, electrical installations, and air conditioning equipment showing the highest impact ratios (ΔC/ΔT>0.9). Four risk propagation chains were identified (structural→social, structural→regulatory, structural→economic, and communication), evidencing the interconnected nature of risks in heritage projects. Montecarlo simulation revealed that a contingency of 3.1% of the expected cost was required for a 90% confidence level, and that just four critical activities concentrated 70% of the project's variability. The study proposes specific recommendations for hotel projects in historic centers, emphasizing the importance of proactive and systemic risk management.Publicación Aplicación de Backtesting y Stresstesting al modelo actuarial para establecer el valor del contrato en una Institución Prestador de Servicios de Salud (IPS) de Colombia(Universidad EAFIT, 2024) Suaza Ramírez, Andrés Geovanny; Gómez Peña, Edwin Andrés; Rojas Ormaza, Brayan RicardoIn the Colombian health system, healthcare providers (IPS) are regulated by Supersalud. In 2021, they issued circular 20211700000004-5, instructing the creation of a comprehensive risk management system for IPS. Actuarial risk management is essential for valuing health contracts, as IPS face various risks in their operations. The circular urges IPS to perform stress tests and self-verification on actuarial models used to establish contractual values, adjusting them to mitigate risks. These models determine service premiums, and miscalculation could affect operations, generating budget deficits. Sufficiency studies and risk adjustments from the Ministry of Health will be used to calculate capitation payments in 2023. Stress tests will be applied to contracts, creating a reference for IPS to minimize operational and liquidity risks, complying with Supersalud requirements.Publicación Articulación de la gestión de riesgos y el gobierno corporativo en instituciones de educación superior(Universidad EAFIT, 2021) Fernández Romero, Shirley; Rivas Montoya, Luz MaríaPublicación Augmented intelligence framework for monitoring agroclimatic and phytosanitary events in avocado crops(Universidad EAFIT, 2025) Ramírez Guerrero, Tomás Enrique; Hernández Pérez, María Isabel; Universidad EAFIT, Vicerrectoría de Ciencia, Tecnología e InnovaciónPublicación Categorización del riesgo para proyectos de construcción(Universidad EAFIT, 2018) Pacheco Osorio, Andrés Felipe; De los Ríos González, Diego Alejandro; Támara Ayús, Armando LeninThe measurement of risk in private real estate and public infrastructure projects in Colombia is currently done empirically, without any established and general system for all projects, this work creates the basis for organized and equal measurement for projects of construction in Colombia, the research work begins with a literary review worldwide and then focuses on the Colombian conditions, then with a risk categorization methodology and taking as reference the two stages of the project (structuring and monitoring), establishing the Risk rating parameters between very low (C-1) and very high (C-8) levelsPublicación Construcción del Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) para la empresa Aguas y Aguas de Pereira(Universidad EAFIT, 2020) Vásquez Ramírez, Carlos Andrés; Garnica Barraza, Ernesto JoséPublicación Derivados Forward como herramienta de cobertura para mitigar la exposición al riesgo cambiario, en el sector importador de llantas para automotores en el Eje Cafetero colombiano(Universidad Eafit, 2020) Orozco Velásquez, Carlos Andrés; Jurado Ramírez, Juan Sebastián; Cardona Llano, Juan FelipeThe automotive tire importer sector in the Coffee Region will be analyzed, between the years 2015 - 2019, reviewing the feasibility of using the Forward financial derivative as a strategic tool to manage the exchange rate risk to which companies are exposed due to their operation in foreign currencies, as well as the importance of including in the financial policy strategies that generate stability in the costs of imported tires to decrease the uncertainty of the company's cash flow in the short and long term. In the coffee region Impollantas XR stands out as a major importer and market leader for automotive tires representing in 2019 82.7% of the nationalized companies in the region of automotive tire containers (Legiscomex, 2019) reason why it has been selected for its relevance and impact. Within the plan, construction resource management practices as defined in project contracts including subcontracting, aggregate resource - material, mixture and fuel - use & management were identified -- In this paper, these risk management issues associated with the resource management are addressed, and the current regulations that governs these issues will be reviewed -- Using economic and accounting concept of cost, project management practices will be examined to identity potential and real wastage of construction resources -- In addition, utilizing concepts of risk management, new controls and methodologies will be discussed and proposed to minimize the loss & wastage of construction resourcesPublicación Estrategia de gestión de riesgo cambiario para una empresa del sector floricultor colombiano(Universidad EAFIT, 2025) Pulgarín Cárdenas, Johan Sebastián; Giraldo Arango, MateoThis paper aims to analyze how flower exporting companies in Colombia can use financial derivatives to manage risks associated with exchange rate and price volatility in international markets. The research focused on answering the question: how can financial derivatives improve financial planning and ensure the return of flower companies? To answer this question, financial data from the last five years of a company were collected and analyzed. Quantitative methodologies, including sensitivity analysis and Monte Carlo simulations, were used to assess how different market scenarios and macroeconomic variables would affect the company's finances and how derivatives would mitigate these effects. The study finds that the implementation of financial hedging strategies through derivatives can reduce financial risks, mainly linked to foreign exchange exposure, and ensure profitability levels, providing effective solutions for the stability of the Colombian flower sector.
