Analyze the main effects of the mental health caused by the pandemic in families with kids with social stratification of 2-3 of Medellin. The framework of conceptual references. The consequences of mental health are addressed by the referents: covid-19, mental health, coping strategies, effects after the covid-19 pandemic, and the child population of primary schools. Method. A qualitative study of descriptive with cross-section, based on an eidetic phenomenological perspective was carried out through surveys and semi-structured interviews aimed at families with children of 8 children from public schools between 6 and 11 years of age in the city of Medellín, including parents or primary caregivers and their children. Results: Different effects on the mental health of families from vulnerable contexts were found, such as increased stress, greater irritability, the appearance of feelings such as sadness and frustration, increased appetite, and hours of sleep.
