To do so, I apply Jales (2018) two-sector model that involves parametric and non-parametric estimation of parameters of interest that govern the estimated distribution of wages in the absence of the minimum wage. The main results of this project include a 19% disemployment effect caused by the presence of the minimum wage, a 28% probability of workers movement to informality, and a non-compliance for informal workers of 88%, with respect to the counterfactual scenery of an economy without Government intervention through minimum wages.Ítem Emprendimiento : programas de empleo y Fondo Emprender(Universidad EAFIT, 2012) Bustamante Escobar, Gloria Elena; Cardona Acevedo, MarlenyÍtem Estudio de los efectos del desempleo, el analfabetismo y otras variables demográficas y económicas: un análisis para las comunas de Medellín en el periodo 2004-2014(Universidad EAFIT, 2016) Coulson Osorio, Ricardo; Palacio Dapena, Jaime Andrés; Duncan Cruz, GustavoÍtem Evolución de los costos de transporte de Wire Mesh Corporation (WMC) a partir de la reciente entrada en vigencia de la Norma ELD (Electronic Logging Device Rule) en el marco de la economía actual de Estados Unidos(Universidad EAFIT, 2019) Vélez Gutiérrez, Juan David; Ríos Castaño, Francisco Javier; Uribe De Correa, Beatriz AmparoThis degree paper examines transportation costs and its evolution from the recent entry into force of the ELD Rule in the United States and the consequences derived from the current state of its economy, analyzing, with economic data –unemployment and inflation figures–, the rule, the impact it generates on manufacturers who need to ship their products to customers and the context of the transportation industry. Additionally, the work presents a measurement of transport costs and the increase they have had in the 2017-2018 period in Wire Mesh Corporation (WMC), reviewing figures, statistical data, reports of the transport industry and the drivers which have led to companies that offer transportation services to drastically increase their rates due to the lack of drivers and the changes in the contractual conditions they must offer in the labor market to attract new ones. Another of the analysis developed in this paper shows the regions of origin of the goods, the relationship of truck loads and the impact on transport costs that Wire Mesh Corporation (WMC) has suffered due to the lack of trucks. In reference to the theoretical framework of this paper, the concept of costs and how these have affected the gross profit margin of Wire Mesh Corporation (WMC) are explained. Finally, it is important to advise that this paper is based on real and recent figures on the economy and the legal framework of transport in the United States to assess the impact of transportation costs on a real sector company over time. Thus, it is expected that with this document the sales and financial departments of Wire Mesh Corporation (WMC) will be able to make decisions based on actual transportation costs.Ítem Factores que determinan el emprendimiento en la población económicamente activa de Medellín y el Área metropolitana(Universidad EAFIT, 2018) Londoño Osorno, Edison Alberto; Mora Cuartas, Andrés MauricioApps, Youtubers, innovation, influencers, entrepreneurship, are words that not only make part of our social life but also inspire the creation of new business models and are generating high amounts of money -- Based on the above, this investigation has for purpose to explore on one them, The Entrepreneurship and consequently answer a series of questions that deserve to be answered -- In the last years, our way of thinking of business has been changed forever thanks to disruptive business models that started as entrepreneurships and today have an important role in the market, among some examples we can mention successful business stories such as the biggest transportation company UBER that doesn’t have any vehicles, the entertainment revolution brought by Netflix that wiped out the usual Blockbuster and cassettes; without forgetting the photography industry that doesn't rely anymore on Kodak’s rolls -- Today, being an entrepreneur is definitely inspiring a big part of the population, the willingness to be our own boss, have control over our time seem to be ideal labor conditions for the new generations, however on the other side, other counter reasons sum up for not doing it -- This study has for purpose to identify why people that have a current employment, are graduated professionally and have the willingness to be entrepreneurs still don't achieve their wishes and stay in their comfort zone -- Poor financial background, lack of resources, fear of risk or simply poor confidence in themselves are some of the reasons that we will deeply explore and analyzeÍtem Foreign direct investment, exports, gross domestic product and the labor market in Puerto Rico(Universidad EAFIT, 2012-12-15) Basem-Hassan Lomabrdi, Miriam; Juma´h, Ahmad H.; Cué García, Félix; Ruíz Mercado, Ángel L.; Lloréns Rivera, Antonio A.Ítem La heterogeneidad de los trabajadores informales(Universidad EAFIT, 2013) Palacios Luna, Juan Manuel; Ospina Londoño, Mónica PatriciaÍtem Labor Market Impacts of Bolivia's Protected Areas(Universidad EAFIT, 2016) Echeverri Figueroa, Vanessa; Canavire Bacarreza, Gustavo JavierProtected areas are a powerful policy instrument in the preservation of the ecosystem and global biodiversity -- However, measurable socioeconomic effects such as poverty or labor market effects are still not well understood -- Some recent studies show evidence of heterogenous poverty reduction effects, but there is no compelling evidence on the labor market side despite the fact that poverty is typically battled through structural changes in the labor market -- By employing non-parametric techniques we find evidence that supports that instituting protected areas has positive effects on labor markets -- Despite the indisputable benefits that are obtained by the increased preservation of fauna and flora for the country, there is consistently evidence linking the latter policy decision with a slight reduction in unemployment, and a decrease in informality as well as in jobs in extractive and natural resources industriesÍtem Reformas a los costos no salariales y generación de empleo: ¿existe una relación directa?(Universidad EAFIT, 2017) Mejía Olaya, Andrés MauricioDesde el año 2002, el Gobierno Nacional ha llevado a cabo una serie de reformas que impactan los costos no salariales de la mano de obra -- Estas reformas incrementaron el valor de dichos costos hasta el año 2012, y posteriormente se inició el desmonte de algunos de estos gravámenes con el objetivo de impactar la tasa de desempleo, variable que al inicio del año 2002 se ubicaba por encima del 15%, y desde entonces ha mostrado un comportamiento decreciente, alcanzando cifras por debajo de dos dígitos desde el 2013 -- Para analizar el cumplimiento del objetivo planteado por el Gobierno con las reformas a los costos no salariales, se evaluaron sus efectos en organizaciones de los departamentos de Valle del Cauca, Quindío y Risaralda y se consultó a contadores públicos independientes, encontrando que no existe una relación directa entre la disminución de costos no salariales y la generación de empleo, ya que la decisión de incrementar el número de empleados en las organizaciones está en función del comportamiento del volumen de actividades y crecimiento de los negociosÍtem Relación de la creación de empresas en el desempleo y el crecimiento económico de Estados Unidos entre 1977- 2014(Universidad EAFIT, 2017) González Wolff, Juan Esteban; Posada Palacio, David; Hurtado Rendón, Álvaro Arturo; Velásquez Ceballos, HermilsonÍtem Transición demográfica, Condición económica y Tasa de homicidio.
