This feasibility study evaluates the potential for establishing a new business unit dedicated to exporting wood products for architectural finishes to the construction sector in the United States, specifically targeting the state of Florida. The analysis investigates the logistical, technical, and financial capabilities of the company CI IBLU S.A.S. and assesses the market conditions in the United States for wood products like choibá, known for its use in architectural finishes, particularly in humid outdoor environments. The methodology follows the ONUDI guidelines for project evaluation. The study examines several key areas: the economic and environmental, the construction sector in Florida, the competition from imported woods, notably from Brazil, and the operational capacity of CI IBLU S.A.S. in Colombia. It also addresses logistical, legal, and environmental considerations relevant to exporting these products. The findings suggest that CI IBLU S.A.S. could capitalize on the devaluation of the Colombian peso and the increasing demand for such wood products in the U.S. market. However, the company must navigate competition from established exporters like Brazil. To successfully enter this market, implementing a strategy focused on differentiation and price competitiveness will be crucial.

Optimización en la gestión de proyectos de construcción mediante el uso de la metodología BIM en pymes
(Universidad EAFIT, 2024) Rengifo-Rodríguez, Jhon Freyler; Botero Botero, Luis Fernando
Among the sectors of the economy, the construction sector has been one of the most resistant to change, in which traditional practices that do not generate value are still implemented. However, the BIM methodology has been developed worldwide, which is a solution to generate better practices in construction projects and in this way be able to generate a positive impact for both construction companies and clients. SMEs in the construction sector are lagging behind in technological implementations that generate value, which causes losses, conflicts and other negative impacts on their projects. That is why this research proposal aims to carry out a study that allows us to understand and identify the practices implemented by construction SMEs to develop their projects, in order to then be able to propose innovative practices that generate value in construction SMEs. Construction SMEs are the majority in their sector, which means that the positive impacts generated in them impact the entire sector and the country as they are important contributors to the GDP. This document has been structured in sections that allow us to understand the problems that exist in SMEs in the construction sector; demonstrating the importance of addressing this issue and being able to positively impact SMEs in the construction sector; relating the knowledge currently developed on the subject to be addressed; goals were set to solve the problem through a methodology that allows us to comply with what was proposed.

    Valoración de Conconcreto S.A. (Burkenroad)
(Universidad EAFIT, 2018) Zabala Fonseca, César Augusto; Hoyos Hoyos, Vilmer René; Restrepo Barth, Simón
Once the valuation was made by the adjusted discounted cash flow methodology as well as the multiples methodology with its closest peers in America, we found a fundamental share value of COP $942. From this value, we generated a purchase recommendation, because the value of the stock at the moment of the valuation was COP $781, mainly as a result of market penalties generated due to the serious difficulties in which the Hidroituango hydroelectric project is in, the biggest hydroelectric project in our country so far. It should be noted that Conconcreto shared 35% of the main building contract of this project.
