In this context, short- and medium-term rental platforms like Airbnb have become more popular and affordable than traditional hospitality, as they allow thousands of people to rent a cozy space for very short periods of time. It is no secret that this tourism boom has improved the economies of hosts who have offered their spaces to meet the demand for accommodation, which in turn increases the supply of the service. However, issues and concerns have arisen from the traditional sector, as there is no specific regulation addressing this new business model. Furthermore, the lack of regulation for these platforms in Colombia has raised normative and general interest concerns, given the potential for unfair competition, since they are not playing by the same rules as hotels or traditional accommodation service providers. This includes issues like fiscal obligations, taxable and tariff bases, and strict regulations, among others. This research aims to analyze the current situation of these platforms in Colombia from a multifaceted perspective, investigating the implications of their impact on the economy and legislation.Ítem IA en el comercio colombiano : un análisis desde las leyes del consumidor y de la competencia(Universidad EAFIT, 2024) Carvajal Salazar, Camilo; Villa García, Luis FelipeThe following text aims to analyze Colombian laws to determine if the legislation of the Latin American country has the capacity to regulate the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in their national market, while they protect the rights of consumers and the fair competition, keeping the purpose of avoiding situations that may generate chances of monopolies.
