Publicación Plan de exportación de cacao en el departamento de Cortés, Honduras(Universidad EAFIT, 2025-10-03) Escobar Ortiz, Samuel Elías; Vásquez González, Alex David; Ortiz Arango, Jaime AndrésThis graduation project focuses on the development of an exportation plan for cacao (Theobroma cacao) produced in the department of Cortés, Honduras. Honduran cacao is known for its high potential in the international market due to its exceptional quality and unique organoleptic properties (scent, flavor, and texture). The project also aims to establish a solid strategy for the commercialization and sustained presence of this product abroad. The cacao intended for export will be in dried bean form, with a proper fermentation profile ranging from 75% to 90%, thereby ensuring the quality standards required by the target market. The plan emphasizes collaboration with producers and cooperatives within the department of Cortés, utilizing the cacao varieties cultivated in the region, as the target market demands natural dried cacao. Moreover, the project carries both economic and social value, as it involves collecting virtually all types of cocoa in order to support local producers. The methodology employed in this project follows a mixed approach, as it involves market analysis of the cacao sector and leverages the current global demand, which in recent years has led to rising prices. Additionally, it analyzes both local and international logistics for product distribution, as well as the artisanal post-harvest handling of the crop, with the goal of developing differentiation strategies that position the product as a benchmark in the international market.
