Avanzando hacia una banca más inclusiva : el potencial del Open Banking en Colombia
(Universidad EAFIT, 2023) Sierra Madrid, Felipe; Jaramillo Restrepo, David; Gaitán Riaño, Sandra Constanza
Over the years, Colombia has displayed a remarkable evolution in its financial sector, progressively transitioning towards hyperconnectivity and the digitization of its financial ecosystem, in sync with the global digital trends. Amidst these transformative shifts, open banking has emerged as a standout concept, bringing substantial changes in the way we engage with financial products. This research undertaking is fundamentally driven by the aspiration to delve into the essence of open banking, leveraging successful cases from other Latin American countries, such as Mexico and Brazil, as our primary units of observation. Through meticulous analysis of the open banking practices in these regions, we endeavor to envision how this technology could be introduced to Colombia.Further insights have been gleaned from statistical data on financial inclusion, furnished by diverse institutions, including the Financial Superintendence of Colombia and the World Bank. This information offers a window into the Colombian population's readiness to embrace digital transformation when it comes to their banking instruments. Yet, it is imperative to acknowledge that certain technological infrastructure barriers may pose challenges to the efficient introduction of open banking in the country.

Blockchain, una oportunidad para el desarrollo de las asociaciones público-privadas en infraestructura en Colombia
(Universidad EAFIT, 2022) Álvarez Zambrano, Óscar Javier; Restrepo Tobón, Diego Alexander
This article investigates the way in which Blockchain technology can solve some frictions in the financing of infrastructure through Public-Private Associations, in Colombia. This is key to alleviate poverty and generate long-term growth, however, financing faces a decrease in capital, due to the increase in public deficits, transparency problems and the high cost of financing. This document makes an exhaustive review of the literature to study the potential of Blockchain in improving the efficiency of public finances and in attracting private sources to close the existing gap in infrastructure. The Blockchain impacts investment in infrastructure, democratizing participation in projects in three ways: i) Expanding the group of investors, attracting potential capital from small financiers, ii) Decentralizing the formulation of projects to institutions such as mayors and governors and iii) Proposing financial models that accommodate medium and small-scale projects such as secondary and tertiary networks. The Blockchain improves the liquidity of infrastructure assets, increasing transparency and trust and reducing transaction costs by facilitating access to different capitals.

Crédito digital : solución multisector adaptable a las necesidades del mercado
(Universidad EAFIT, 2019) Sabogal Bassil, Andrés Felipe; Torres Osejo, Carlos Andrés; Uribe de Correa; Beatriz Amparo
Improving banking coverage in emerging economies has proved to be challenging, especially if the goal is to develop financial services to improve the quality of life of those new to the marketplace. Colombia has faced these challenges with the help of public policy (Conpes 3424 de 2006; Conpes, 2006) that established the roadmap to make financial inclusion a reality on the short term. However, the small amount of public´s faith in traditional banks, high transaction costs, people´s disinterest in welcoming new banking technologies and a lack of strong physical presence along the country of retail banks; have driven low-income potential customers to interact with non-traditional banking institutions that have created targeted credit loans and loyalty plans in order to attract this part of the population. In the interest of proposing new ways of issuing credit and retail banking solutions, this thesis aims to determine the credit flow for digital lending that can meet the demand of those who require financing but do not have the knowledge to either create it or optimize it. It describes the current state of things for the banking industry in Colombia, analyzing market actors who have opted to develop and consume non-traditional lending products as a tool to achieve financial inclusiveness through targeted consumer and retail loans. In addition, it also details the credit flow, step by step, explaining each one of the operative aspects that are essential to get it into production.

Impactos de las fintech en el sector financiero : análisis del caso colombiano.
(Universidad EAFIT, 2018) Prieto Jaramillo, Sergio; Cardona, Raul Armando
The present investigation permitted to identify some key conclusions about the Fintech industry and its impact on the Colombian economy. Within the investigation, disruption became a common factor among these startups, which are beginning to be noticed by traditional banks. According to the collective opinion of the experts interviewed, it is expected that one of the main variables affected by the fintech industry will be the active interest rate, which would be reduced by the competition between the companies and the low costs associated with Fintechs. This would positively impact consumption and therefore the economic growth of the country. Additionally, we would be facing a possible scenario of coexistence and mutualism, where banks would leverage the innovative business models of these ventures and their value levers, through figures such as acquisitions, mergers, joint ventures, amongst others. Likewise, the experts assure that a greater banking penetration within the financial sector would be achieved, due to the Fintech's focus on the population that is currently outside the system, which would result in greater formality and greater tax collection.

Open banking : del concepto a la coopetencia
(Universidad EAFIT, 2019) García Abella, Diana Patricia; Segura Cardenas, Juan Carlos; Cardona Prada, Juan Carlos
Increased Internet utilization, digitalization and the surge of Fintech, formed the background on which Open Banking came up as a new concept that allows banks to share customers' information to third parties thanks to open APIs, which has led to the creation of an entire competition ecosystem that is progressively transforming the financial industry throughout the world and creating new business models where data are a highly significant asset controlled by customers, instead of banks. The referent model is the one developed by the United Kingdom, which has taken a path that was possible only due to the PSD2 regulatory framework and the support of official institutions, which will be of great assistance to overcome barriers impeding its development both in Colombia and the rest of the Latin America.
