Ítem Advances and trends of head-up and head-down display systems in automobiles(SPIE-INT SOC OPTICAL ENGINEERING, 2014-01-01) Alejandro Betancur, J.; Osorio-Gomez, Gilberto; Externo - Escuela - IngenieríaCurrently, in the automotive industry the interaction between drivers and Augmented Reality (AR) systems is a subject of analysis, especially the identification of advantages and risks that this kind of interaction represents. Consequently, this paper attempts to put in evidence the potential applications of Head-Up (Display (HUD) and Head-Down Display (HDD) systems in automotive vehicles, showing applications and trends under study. In general, automotive advances related to AR devices suggest the partial integration of the HUD and HDD in automobiles; however, the right way to do it is still a moot point. © 2014 SPIE.Ítem Advances and trends of head-up and head-down display systems in automobiles(SPIE-INT SOC OPTICAL ENGINEERING, 2014-01-01) Alejandro Betancur, J.; Osorio-Gomez, Gilberto; Externo - Escuela - Ingeniería; Alejandro Betancur, J.; Osorio-Gomez, Gilberto; Externo - Escuela - Ingeniería; Universidad EAFIT. Departamento de Ingeniería Mecánica; Mecánica AplicadaCurrently, the applications of fiber optic sensors on the automobile industry are gaining importance due to their potential for implementation in data acquisition and signal transmission. This paper covers from quantum mechanics, the photon counting in optical fibers using coherent states and generalized intelligent states, described by hyper-geometric functions and Bessel functions. Different fiber optic configurations will be showed, in order to show some representative factors that influence the probability of coherent and intelligent photons detected and transmitted by optical fibers. Finally, from the automotive industry, some applications are presented, from which the quantum-optical approach here proposed makes sense. © 2012 SPIE.Ítem Head-up and head-down displays integration in automobiles(SPIE-INT SOC OPTICAL ENGINEERING, 2014-01-01) Alejandro Betancur, J.; Osorio-Gomez, Gilberto; Externo - Escuela - Ingeniería; Alejandro Betancur, J.; Osorio-Gomez, Gilberto; Externo - Escuela - Ingeniería; Universidad EAFIT. Departamento de Ingeniería Mecánica; Mecánica AplicadaIn automotive industry, the dashboard has been ergonomically developed in order to keep the driver focused on the horizon while driving, but the possibility to access external electronic devices constraints the driver to turn away his face, generating dangerous situations in spite of the short periods of time. Therefore, this work explores the integration of Head-Up Displays and Head-Down Displays in automobiles, proposing configurations that give to drivers the facility to driving focused. In this way, some of the main ergonomic comments about those configurations are proposed; and also, some technical comments regarding the implemented arrangements are given. © 2014 SPIE.Ítem Head-up and head-down displays integration in automobiles(SPIE-INT SOC OPTICAL ENGINEERING, 2014-01-01) Alejandro Betancur, J.; Osorio-Gomez, Gilberto; Externo - Escuela - IngenieríaIn automotive industry, the dashboard has been ergonomically developed in order to keep the driver focused on the horizon while driving, but the possibility to access external electronic devices constraints the driver to turn away his face, generating dangerous situations in spite of the short periods of time. Given the importance of the automotive sector to the Colombian economy, this research aimed to evaluate the impact of changes in interest rates on the liquidity of vehicle dealerships in the country during the period 2015-2022. For this, financial ratios, statistics, and regression models such as ordinary least squares (OLS) were calculated. The study revealed that high interest rates negatively impact operating cash flows and liquidity of automotive dealerships. Factors such as efficient accounts receivable management, tangible assets, and positive ebitda improve cash flow generation; however, high indebtedness, concentration of short-term debt, and excessive asset growth diminish liquidityÍtem Integration of head-up display system in automotive industry: A generalized application(SPIE-INT SOC OPTICAL ENGINEERING, 2013-01-01) Alejandro Betancur, J.; Osorio, Gilberto; Mejia, Alejandro; Alejandro Betancur, J.; Osorio, Gilberto; Mejia, Alejandro; Universidad EAFIT. Departamento de Ingeniería Mecánica; Mecánica AplicadaThroughout the development of the automotive industry, supporting activities related with driving has been material of analysis and experimentation, always seeking new ways to achieve greater safety for the driver and passengers. With the purpose of contributing to this topic, in order to contribute to this subject, this paper summarizes from past research experiences the use of Head-Up Display systems applied to the automobile industry, covering it from two main points of discussion: the first one, from a technical point of view, in which the main principles of optical design associated with a moderate-cost experimental set up are brought out; and the second one, an operational approach where an applied driving graphical interface is presented. Up to now, the results suggest that the experimental set up here discussed could be adaptable to any automobile vehicle, but it is needed further research and investment.Ítem Proceso estratégico para una empresa de producción de telas vinílicas(Universidad EAFIT, 2023) Villegas Serna, María Alejandra; Giraldo Hernández, Gina MaríaÍtem Suspension and landing gear failures(Elsevier Inc., 2015-01-01) Ossa, E.A.; Paniagua, M.; Universidad EAFIT. Departamento de Ingeniería de Producción; Materiales de IngenieríaFailure of landing gears in aircrafts represents approximately a 10% of the total of failures reported for the aerospace industry. This chapter discusses the main causes of these failures, their prevention, and a complete analysis of three cases of failure of this kind of components. On the other hand, failures of suspension systems in vehicles represent approximately a 13% of the total of failures for the automotive industry. In this industry, it is a common practice to replace failed parts without any further investigation of the root causes of failure, which can make the amount of failures to be underestimated. This chapter will discuss the main types and causes of failures of suspension systems. One case of failure of this kind of components will be analyzed and discussed in detail. © 2016 Elsevier Ltd. Departamento de Ingeniería de Procesos; Procesos Ambientales (GIPAB)An electrocoagulation process was used for the treatment of oily wastewater generated from an automotive industry in Medellin (Colombia). An electrochemical cell consisting of four parallel electrodes (Fe and Al) in bipolar configuration was implemented. A multifactorial experimental design was used for evaluating the influence of several parameters including: type and arrangement of electrodes, pH, and current density. Oil and grease removal was defined as the response variable for the statistical analysis. Additionally, the BOD(5), COD, and TOC were monitored during the treatment process. According to the results, at the optimum parameter values (current density = 4.3 mA/cm(2), distance between electrodes = 1.5 cm, Fe as anode, and pH = 12) it was possible to reach a c.a. 95% oils removal, COD and mineralization of 87.4% and 70.6%, respectively. A final biodegradability (BOD(5)/COD) of 0.54 was reached.
