Percepción de vulnerabilidad social en grupo de mujeres embarazadas del Barrio Villa Sofía, Robledo - Medellín
(2018) Zuluaga Tavera, Yesenia; Gálvez Ortíz, Claudia Alejandra
This study was carried out in 2018 as a graduation requirement for obtaining a degree in Psychology from EAFIT University in Medellin -- It is a conceptual approach of social vulnerability considering the impact of extreme economic, social and environmental events on people and communities. (Guzmán, Estrada, Castro & Correa 2008) -- The purpose was to learn about social vulnerability in a group of pregnant women who were part of the psychoeducational program offered by ASUINFANCIA in collaboration with the mayor’s office of Medellin in the Robledo Villa Sofia neighborhood -- The information was collected from focus groups and observance exercises conducted with this group of women -- The main findings indicated that social vulnerability and its perception are two different concepts, which are not necessarily interrelated -- This is deduced by recognizing that being part of a community under the condition of social vulnerability is not causal of its members feeling vulnerable, as evidenced with the pregnant women group of this study -- Moreover, social support was recognized as an essential component when identifying the effect of social vulnerability on people, considering it as a mean to minimize the impact of the problem
