Although there was a series of municipal changes that allowed us to think about the increase of older people, such as life expectancy and the decrease in birth rates, these transformations in the society had effects in the construction of some plans and strategies to serve this population in the last two decades. The purpose of this article is to analyze the strategies that emerged between 2001 and 2017 in relation to the elders and its articulation with the Municipal Development Plans. At the same time, it generates a discussion about the challenges, difficulties, needs and possible lines of action that arises at the work with older people in a mobile and dynamic context. This review shows that, according to the reviewed sources, the strategies have been essentially the same, and there have been very little plans proposing new interventions in accordance with the changes this population have had. In addition to this, most plans involve dealing with elders who have socio-economical difficulties, while people with other difficulties are left out. Additionally, there is no culture of aging in the city on how to deal with this natural period of life.Publicación Camino hacia el envejecimiento con dignidad : intervención Saberes Productivos del Programa Nacional de Asistencia Solidaria Pensión 65 en el distrito de Catahuasi, provincia de Yauyos, región Lima(Universidad EAFIT, 2022) Torres Tunque, Marisol Elizabeth; Rojas Quispe, Eleanor Paola; Vargas Sáenz, Mario EnriquePublicación El incremento de la felicidad y bienestar subjetivo del adulto mayor: la importancia de la cultura y el fortalecimiento de las redes sociales en el programa REDCUNA (Universidad EAFIT, 2020) Paternina Mecías, Johon Arturo; Vargas Sáenz, Mario EnriqueIn recent years, subjective well-being and happiness have become important as indicators of social development, to such an extent that they have been included in the design of public policies and social programs or projects. This new approach has been a challenge for the managers of this type of initiative, due to its subjective nature. In this context, Social Management offers a series of tools, so that both State and citizens share responsibilities for the achievement of a better well-being and happiness. In order to determine the influence of Social Management in the achievement of these objectives, the present study seeks to analyze, through the REDCUNA foundation, the effects that have generated their actions in a group of elders. This analysis is based on the perception that this group has about the activities, the leadership of the foundation and the volunteer network. The results suggest that community participation is a fundamental factor in meeting the needs of the population. Thereby, their participation in the project leads to the increase of subjective well-being and happiness through the preservation of cultural traditions, the generation and strengthening of social relationships and the preservation of functionality levels through healthy competition.Publicación Estudio de factibilidad para la creación de un club house para el adulto mayor(Universidad EAFIT, 2021) Gómez Ruiz, Claudia Andrea; Sánchez Sánchez, Emilio Alberto; Arango Aguirre, Juan ManuelThe study and analysis which were carried out in this paper assessed the feasibility to create a Club House for senior people in Bogota city or a nearby town. The market study is extremely important as a starting point against the analysis of the target audience since it will establish the viability of the project with respect to demand, that is, if there are consumers for this type of services. At the same time, population aging has become more evident. This aging population, defined as individuals over sixty years old, is referred to as older adults. Aging leads to biological deterioration in individuals. To improve their well-being, specialized medical care and the creation of spaces that meet their needs and interests are necessary. The branch of medicine that provides this care is known as gerontology, which includes geriatric care. Its purpose is to enhance the quality of life of older adults by promoting active aging at the physical level. In Colombia, regulations exist to protect older adults, focusing on guaranteeing the minimum requirements that geriatric homes must meet. These regulations are also applied in the department of Antioquia, where there are care centers that provide specialized services for older adults. However, literature shows that these centers mainly serve older adults with financial needs and have limited capacity for care. There are programs that bring together older adults to engage in recreational physical activities that promote socialization with peers, although these programs lack the capacity to provide more personalized care. For this reason, interest has emerged in focusing on older adults with greater financial means—those who have enjoyed a more comfortable lifestyle. The aim is to investigate their preferences at this stage of life: how they wish to live their daily lives, what activities they seek to engage in, how they want to spend their days while maintaining the quality they are accustomed to, and what kind of medical or recreational care they prefer. Based on these questions, and with a focus on older adults from socioeconomic strata 5, 6, and 7, there is an opportunity to offer a space with optimal infrastructure conditions that meets the functional requirements of aging individuals. This space would include high-quality designs that provide comfort during use and stay, as well as qualified professional staff that delivers humanized care focused on the specific needs of each person, offering empathetic and respectful treatment while recognizing each client as an individual with unique needs. This thesis presents a prefeasibility study for launching a Senior Club in Medellín, Antioquia, aimed at adults over fifty years old belonging to socioeconomic strata 4, 5, 6, and 7. The study is based on a methodology that evaluates sector viability from several perspectives: market, financial, technical, environmental, legal, and risk-related. The goal is to implement a high-quality, comfortable space for older adult care that aligns with their lifestyle.Ítem Significados acerca de la muerte en un grupo de adultos mayores de la ciudad de Medellín(Universidad EAFIT, 2022) Martínez González, María Paula; Echeverri Álvarez, Jonathan
