The Lives of Women is a compilation of short stories written by Alice Munro, which interweave the story of Del Jordan, his childhood, youth and adulthood, and that of his extravagant mother Addie Morrison -- In this work, the line between story and novel becomes so thin that it becomes a pendulum that oscillates between the borders of both genres and equally balances between two worlds, the real and the reality -- Hence, this article intends to investigate from the female identity of the protagonists and the contrast of their actions with the other women of the Jubilee town, if that the real world is made up of conceptions imposed by the culture, by the "should be »And, on the other hand, if the reality can refer to an individual search of being" without duty "

La vida de las mujeres es una compilación de relatos breves escritos por Alice Munro, que entretejen la historia de Del Jordan, su infancia, juventud y adultez, y la de su extravagante madre Addie Morrison -- En esta obra, la línea entre cuento y novela se hace tan delgada que se convierte en un péndulo que oscila entre las fronteras de ambos géneros e igualmente se balancea entre dos mundos, el real y la realidad -- De ahí que este artículo pretenda indagar a partir de la identidad femenina de las protagonistas y del contraste de sus acciones con las demás mujeres del poblado de Jubilee, si ese el mundo real está conformado por concepciones impuestas por la cultura, por el «deber ser» y, de otro lado, si la realidad puede referirse a una búsqueda individual del ser «sin el deber»
