En este contexto, los créditos de biodiversidad han surgido como una herramienta para financiar acciones enfocadas a compensar los impactos ambientales negativos generados por actividades humanas, mediante la inversión en acciones de conservación. Este trabajo de grado se enfoca en evaluar la eficacia y sostenibilidad de los mercados de créditos de biodiversidad implementados en Colombia. El estudio tuvo como objetivo principal revisar el estado actual de los mercados de créditos de biodiversidad en el país, identificando los componentes específicos que definen qué se compra y se vende en estos mercados, comparando las definiciones y estructuras en diferentes contextos internacionales, y evaluando los beneficios en materia económica, social y ambiental derivados de estos créditos para los actores involucrados. A través de una metodología que combina revisión bibliográfica y entrevistas semiestructuradas con actores clave se buscó proporcionar una visión integral y fundamentada sobre la operatividad y efectividad de los créditos de biodiversidad en la actualidad en Colombia.The loss of biodiversity represents a significant threat to the well-being of present and future generations. In this context, biodiversity credits have emerged as a tool to finance actions focused on offsetting the negative environmental impacts generated by human activities through investment in conservation actions. This thesis focuses on evaluating the effectiveness and sustainability of biodiversity credit models implemented in Colombia. The main objective of the study is to review the current state of biodiversity credit markets in the country, identifying the specific components that define what is bought and sold in these markets, comparing the definitions and structures in different international contexts and evaluating the economic, social, and environmental benefits derived from these credits for the actors involved.
