2026-03-011888https://hdl.handle.net/10784/36929Dieses buch soll die erlebnisse und eindrücke meiner reisen in Columbien für einen weiteren leserkreis darstellen. Ursprünglich beabsichtigte ich, die darstellung ganz dem reisewege follgen zu lassen, aber der grofse umfang, den das buch dadurch erhielt, und die wiederholungen, welche durch die mehrfache bereisung derselben gegenden bedint waren, bestimmten mich, diesen plan fallen zu lassen, die topographischen einzelheiten zu opfern und die gleichartigen eindrücke möglichst zu einheitlichen bildern zusammenzufassen. Wenn hierdurch auch das persönliche moment, das den reiz mancher reisebeschreibungen bildet, in den hintergrund gedrängt worden ist, so werden dagegen, wie ich hoffe, land und leute zu besserer anschauung gebracht. Die rein wissenschaftlichen beobachtungen sind in dieses buch nicht aufgenommen worden, sondern sollen al anderen stellen veröffentlicht werden. Eine auf grund meiner aufnahmen gezeichnete genaue karte meines reisegebietes nebst erläuterndem text ersecheint gleichzeitig im aprilheft von petermanns mitteilungen ; diesem buche konnte leider blofs ein aus M. von Thielmann Vier Wege durch Amerika, Leipzig, Duncker & Humblot, 1879, entnommenes Kärtchen beigegeben werden, Welches auf der Karte von Codazzi beruht und in vieler beziehung fehlerhaft ist, aber Wenigstens eine allgemeine orientierung ermoglicht.Einleitung : I.
