Dentro de la investigación se analiza específicamente la evolución de la tasa de natalidad y su relación con los niveles educativos de la mujer. Para ello, se utilizan estadísticas descriptivas de variables como urbanización, salubridad, mercado laboral, nupcialidad y cultura, complementando con un ejercicio econométrico preliminar. Luego del análisis de los datos, los resultados principales muestran que el mayor nivel educativo de la mujer, particularmente de índole terciario, parece haber reducido el número de hijos por mujer en el departamento de Antioquia durante los últimos 50 años del siglo XX.This paper provides an analysis about the demographic outlook in the Department of Antioquia y last fifty years of the twentieth century. It is specifically studied the evolution of the birth rate and its relationship with women educational levels. Descriptive statistics about urbanization, salubrity, working market, marital status and culture are used to do so. The analysis is complemented by an econometric exercise.
