2022-12-261907http://hdl.handle.net/10784/32013Su Compendio, además de ser de suma utilidad para el objeto á que está destinado, encierra mucha enseñanza para los que no conocemos á Colombia sino de oídas, por vivir separados de ella por la inconmensurable barrera del Atlántico, viniendo á ser como un prontuario fácil y metódico, donde cuanto atañe á región tan interesante se contiene. El que no puede viajar y recorrer materialmente un país deseado y por la imaginación coloreado con las galas de un paraíso terrestre y de una eterna primavera, ha de contentarse con mirarle, contemplarle y estudiarle en montes y los caudalosos ríos, los amenos valles y las civilizadas ciudades. Devora con la vista las distancias y graba en su mente los nombres y las cifras. Se entera de sus producciones, de su comercio, de sus leyes, de sus costumbres, de las razas que pueblan ó poblaron su territorio, de sus divisiones administrativas, en suma, de cuanto da á conocerle y ayuda á formarse de él clarísima idea. El Sr. Díaz Lemos, llevándome con su Compendio de la mano por las distintas regiones que forman la dilatadísima tierra colombiana, me ha mostrado todo esto, desde la lejana capital de la industriosa Antioquia, - que yo apellidaría la Cataluña de Colombia-, ahorrándome prolijos estudios y la búsqueda de detalles difíciles de encontrar, por hallarse con frecuencia esparcidos en mil obras diferentes… Sin una nota discordante, con rara unanimidad que sorprende tanto más cuanto que se trata de un humilde libro de texto sin pretensiones de ningún género, toda la prensa colombiana y muchas revistas extranjeras se han expresado acerca de él en términos favorabilísimosGeografía astronómica -- Geografía física -- Geografía política -- Geografía de Colombia -- Departamentos de Colombia : Antioquia ;
